Ok , here's my second attempt at getting together some fun loving MINI owners for a fun drive out of the stinkin' hot valley!

I'd like to leave Saturday AM on June 28th. So no more of you guys saying it's too soon to plan for...and, of course, it's not too far out NOT to plan for

Destination is still up in the air. Majority vote wins:

1) North to Oak Creek Canyon
2) South to Tombstone

So far that date looks good. Doesn't matter which direction. North to Oak Creek is nice, especially the back way up Yarnell Hill 89A. South to Tombstone is also good, might be able to pick up some people from Tucson. Especially since my favorite ice cream parlor is located in Tucson. Austin's Ice Cream is great!

Here's the response I sent minicoop78 in a PM as a response to two Qs from him. Time and Place for saturday's run. So far both he and I are commited to going. Anyone else?

I'm not sure where we'll meet until we get a consensus as to the destination. If we go south, I suggest meetinging around 1-10 and Chandler Blvd, but if we go north, then I-17 & Deer Valley makes sense.

I hate waking up early on the weekends, but I think it might be best to leave early in the so we can be back at a decent hour that afternoon, so people can plan around other commitments. How do you feel about leaving the PHX area around 7AM? Too early? Too late? Just right?

I'm up for it!!! Don't care where we go - just out of the city. Ice cream sounds good though no matter where we go! I'll e-mail a bunch of people and let them know about this thread.

Cool. Thanks for spreading the word!

We still need to come up with a consensus of destination and departure timeframe by Friday AM or I'll have to pick for y'all.

Which of you guys are in the Tucson area? I'm coming out in 2 weeks to look at houses and should be living there by the end of summer, I can't wait to break the news to my kids that they get to go back to school on August 6th Since school here in CT has only been out for a week.

I just joined up. I'm in the Tucson area (so I vote the drive be towards Tombstone with a meeting place in Tucson, but I could be persuaded to drive to Phoenix). There are some nice places in Tucson. I've been riding my bike around some really cool little neighborhoods recently, wishing I had bought a house there instead.

Hello ACWilliam, welcome to the MCO!

Hope to see you around in 4 - 6 weeks. Don't worry it's coming sooner than you think.

AZMini and AZWilliam, I have some really cool instructions on how to track you MINI across the ocean. Interested?

Well for the time, if you're going to Tombstone, I don't care what time it is... but if you're going north, I'd have to drive to phoenix first... so definately not at 7... maybe more like 9ish. I may not check the board on the weekend, so if a final decision is made, somebody call me. 520-971-2375.

OK! Whew. I made a command decision. We're going North! Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona area.

We're meeting at Denny's on I-17 & Deer Valley Rd (SW corner). This is on the far northern side of PHX for those not familiar.

I'm getting there around 8:15AM to get some breakfast and do some chit-chat. I plan on leaving by 9:15AM.

What we do after that is up in the air. We'll keep it in the spirit of motoring to not make any definative plans as to when or where to stop. "Go with the flow"

Hey Dominic et al,
I am currently cowering in my sister's apartment in Tempe while she's at work (waitressing). That's right, cowering. Freaking 111 outside, which I suppose is not out of the ordinary here. Went down to check out the pool, and was foolish enough to do so in my bare feet. OUCH! They're still smarting. At some point her boyfriend is supposed to come take me to dinner (yippee), which should be painful in every way that an obligatory dinner would be expected to be. Not a bad guy, but not too exciting, either. Hoping to get out of it... Went hiking up near Payson yesterday, which was gorgeous. Going hiking tomorrow morning at Camelback, which should be fascinatingly painful.

Anyway, I may be free tomorrow evening unless my sister hooks me up with some of her friends (I've heard mention of twins... ), so PM me if you guys are up to anything when you get back into town. No phone number here!

I sound bitchy, but it's just because my feet hurt. I'm actually having a great time here. Back to Boston on Sunday, back to work on Monday...

Have fun tomorrow, wish I could go!

Chris
