Hey guys, I'm heading up for the "tail of the dragon" later this week, and am thinking about doing a run over to Cades Cove on Saturday. I've been to Cades Cove many times, although I was much younger. I know that the last time I was there, Parson's Branch Rd was still gravel, so I'm not wanting to get there via that. We'll be staying at Fontana Village, and I was thinking we should hit the Foothills Parkway, but that's as far as exits, and which roads to take from there...I have no idea.

Take the Foothills Parkway to where it ends near Townsend, TN and bear to the right onto Hwy 321. Head toward the GSMNP. Past the stores, gas stations, etc of Townsend, Hwy 321 will bear off to the left and Hwy 73 will continue toward the park. Keep going straight on Hwy 73. You will cross a bridge and come to a stop sign as you enter the GSMNP. Take a right at the stop sign on Cades Cove Rd. That will take you directly to the loop road for Cades Cove.

Traffic will be heavy in Cades Cove unless you are there VERY early.
