Wave
There are a few North and South Carolina MINI owners that post here and on the other sites. I am located in Charlotte and bought my MINI from Century in Greenville.
At this time there is no organized group for Carolina MINIs. The next event in the Carolina's is in Charlotte. It is a detailing how too. Here is the link.Charlotte Detailing Seminar
The next up coming event will be in Greenville on March 2nd. Century MINI is planning a Rally. Invitations will be going out to owners that purchased from Century. The event will be open to all MINI owners. I will post more info after I receive my invitation.
Welcome to MCO and hope you are enjoying your MINI

Hello from South Charlotte!
Too much work and not neerly enough motoring lately! I'm looking forward to the March 2nd rally. If there's enough interest I could pull out a nice half-day TSD rally in the Charlotte area for this summer....

Nice to see you back. Sounds like work is keeping you too busy.
The invitations for the Century Rally will be going out later this week. It should be fun.
I think there would be a lot of interest in the TSD Rally for MINIs this year. Let me know if I can help.
See you on the 15TH.
Is there a big blue M on your roof yet?

I'm a new Mini owner here in Charlotte also. I've been looking to meet up with other area Mini owner and see about some events. If you see an Indi Blue Cooper S with matching top and areo kit that is me. I'm mostly in the south and southwest sections of town. You can also e-mail me directly if you like to see about getting together for some events.
Hello from Greenville SC. I planed to attend the Charlotte detailing seminar next weekend, but it's looking like business will require me to be out of town. If so, I'll look forward to meeting you folks at the Century rally on 3/2/03
Sorry to hear that you might not be able to make it to the seminar. I always hate it when work gets in the way, but it happens to me too.
I look forward to meeting you at the Century Rally. I think I saw you turning from Roper Mt. Rd onto Phelham Rd. a couple of weeks ago. The MINI I saw looked like the description of your MCS.

Re: North and South Carolina mini-owners....
A group of maybe 20-25 of us did get together in Charlotte on February 22. Depending on who you ask, you might get varying descriptions, but basically....
The group showed a couple of distinctly different versions of what they wanted in a group... one attendee went ahead and started an "on-line" group of his own, and some of the rest of us are still trying to work out details on what we would like to see in a "club".
There is an event set for March 29th. Motoring to Stowe Botanical Gardens in Charlotte. I haven't heard yet what time, but our "unofficial keeper of the mailing list" will probably have something out soon. All are welcome... it is a "picnic" type get together.
Information on Stowe is available at http://www.dsbg.org, and I have been told we get some sort of disount since we are coming as a group

I would like to be added to that mailing list. I'm in Charlotte and looking to work with others to get a club going. Also, I am already working on a Mini web site that could be a starting point for this club and others. http://www.clubmini-online.com
Thanks,

The Carolina group is UP and RUNNING !
We had our second outing at Stowe botanical gardens on 3/29. A good time was had by all, and one member put together a nice little motoring route.
Our next get together is in Columbia the weekend of April 26 and 27. We are actually joining in on an event put together by the local British Car Club. They extended an open invitation to us to come out and play.
More details on request, but basically is is a car show the afternoon of the 26th, followed by awards and a cookout - these are at Saluda Shoals Park. Sunday there is a fun rally starting early, followed by brunch at the Embassy Suites.
If you want details on this event, or about the mini group, e-mail me at mick_c@bigfoot.com

Our [YOUR] 'virtual car club' called the "CAROLINA MINI CLUB" is in the process of being formed. It will be a while yet! Remember this - our main goal is to have a club with the benefits of a virtual meeting place [the internet] without having to go 30 - 50 - or 100 miles to an actual meeting.
All of this goes to the issue of there being two basic types of clubs. One is for the purpose of creating a social life, in microcosm, for pre-middle aged [and elderly] people who have little excitement in their lives and need the close support and socialization of a peer group centered around some common cause or OBJECT [the Mini]! The other is for the for the purpose of having fun without all of the a fore mentioned amenities!
The 'Carolina Mini Club' is going to be here for the next umpteen years and will be your club - when you go to the website and pay your $5.00 annual association fee you will have access to a whole new world of Mini Activities, Local Events, Affiliate Listings, SCCA Event listings, Gallery for your car, family and pet pictures, Useful Stuff: Chat Rooms, Logo Lifestyle Items such as Club Car Tag, Patches, Static Cling Window Decals, Caps, Lapel Pins..... Quarterly News Letter w/ updates as needed, recognition and affiliation with certain Factory contacts.... all designed to let you identify with each other around your affection for the great little car with the great big history!
All enthusiasts will be welcome based upon no criteria all.... [no ownership, location, sex, age or race restrictions] ....just the desire to associate with other Mini lovers at local, regional and national events in greater numbers! Like the Corvette People, the Porsche People, The Mustang people.... we will gain a group identity and reputation for pride in owning the BMW Cooper Mini! When one of us [paid member] ....is not treated well by our Dealer of BMW or Cooper - we will broadcast it loud and clear to the world..... because we will be linked to every other Mini site possible.... we will get the coverage and notoriety! Our 'Tech Room' will be a place where those who have had problems, can help those who might have the same problem ....about to appear!
Bottom line.... this club will be a FUN and USEFUL affiliation for you ....and NOT a ball and chain! Send you e-mail address today and get on the pre-list: Mini@CarolinaMiniClub.com tlk

Sounds kind of like a contradiction of ideas going on here. Am I mis-understanding this? or, are you saying that while it's alright to talk to a bunch of older folks online, you don't want them to hang out with? If I'm mistaken, my apologies. Could you clarify please?
