Natchez Trace Parkway
Hey Bill,
I did the Natchez Trace Pkwy on my drive back to Galveston, TX from picking up my MCS at Roadshow MINI in Memphis, TN.
There are several websites about the park, you can google them. Shoudl be very pretty now with fall colors.
Basically it's a long road along a historic trail. It's a 2-lane road that is a National Park. It is very beautiful and scenic, but not very curvy. There is a 50 (or 55?) mph speed limit, so it is slow going, buty when I went (in January) there was very little traffic. It is a nice, picturesque, serene, scenic drive with quite a few historic markers along the way.

Beautiful drive this time of year. Take a picnic basket or whatever. Enjoy the scenic and very NON-COMMERCIAL trip. Usually easy exit on/off at various points. From what I've been on, mostly 2 lane with light traffic. Lots of parks like the other post notes. Enjoy...
From the part I've been on (mostly Tennessee where I'm from), there is NO gas availability. This is actually one of the charming parts of the drive. You will most likely have to access one of the exits (to a main street or town) to get gas. This should pose no problem tho. Like I said, it's very NON-COMMERCIAL. You'll really enjoy it.
I just drove the entire lenth of the trace in my JCW MCS a couple weekends ago, it's fantastic! Not a fast or curvy road, just slow and gorgeous.
Lots of history along the way, I highly reccomend getting a book on the trace or in the least the map provided by the national park service, as it details every stop along the way and highlights some of the better stuff.
It will take you past swamps in MS that have gators in them all the way to Nashville, where the best conditioned roads are....
You will have to get off and drive around Jackson, MS as the trace is not completed there yet.
Going through Tupelo you can stop and see Elvis' birthplace.
