West Palm Beach : Morosso Road Course Use Possibility
OK, first, I have nothing confirmed ! BUT, I have mentioned to Morosso Motorsports in West Palm Beach, FL about the costs to be incurred to have either a half day, or full day's use of their Road Course track ONLY for MINI's. The reason being, is I think there would be a lot of interest for this, and it would draw people from Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, maybe St Lucie counties, and even Orlando, and perhaps Tampa and further. What I discussed with them, and am still discussing, is setting this up so only MINI's could attend, and would NOT be required to have a Race License as is required on any of their open track days they do now.
Another thought was to POSSIBLY tie this together with a morning "schooling session" from one of the local driving schools to make it a more worthwhile event for people, and then be able to go out and drive the road course after that with multiple cars on the track at any one time. I assume there also will be a waiver required to be signed releasing them of liability.
This is all VERY PRELIMINARY, as I am really trying to judge the interest level from people to see if it can be made worthwhile financially to cover the required fees for the track and other expenses. I am only guessing, as it would depend on the numbers of people attending, but may likely be a cost in the area of $200.00 + per car for this to happen, with maybe 30+ people / cars attending.
To keep things simple, please email me at : Road Course Tally so I can more easily keep track of the numbers of people that may be interested. No dates set or discussed yet, just judgeing interest levels.
Please reply with a brief email, and I will keep track of it. I will post this message on other forums, linking here, so it does not become a big mess to track interest, hence why I am asking for people to reply to my personal address. There is also the possibility of gaining a few companies interests from a light financial sponsorship point of few, if the interest level is strong enough.
SO, it's up to you whom respond, if I decide to try to push this forward with Morosso and even have them organise it themselves to make it happen !! I personally think it could be a GREAT outing for all, and may potentially have alot of room to grow for the future ............ spread the word, and we shall see what happens. Thanks !

I've been thinking about doing something like this in the next couple of months with BMWCCA or Chin, but an all MINI one sounds good.

I will be running with Chin at Moroso in Dec.
I will be running my RX-7 though.
I need an all Mini Event to force me to leave the RX-7 home and take the Mini.
Orbhot - If you decide to do the Dec. Chin event let me know here I will look for you.

You should join Sunshine MINIs and post this on the forum there.

I'll be happy to join in the fun. As an alternative, why not get a bunch of us and just sign up for a specific track day with Chin. Less hassles for us. I participated in their 8/2/03 event at Sebring. It was fun and definitely a learning experience. As a novice (unlicenced) I had an instructor ride with me. I was disappointed that I was the only mini at the event. There were mostly BMW's and Porsche's at Sebring. My mini hung in there in the twistees but got smoked on Sebring's long straights. The next Chin track day is at Roebling, near Savannah, Ga., the last weekend in September. A return to Sebring is scheduled for mid October. You can check their track schedule at http://www.chinmotorsports.com. I know Morosso is on their schedule. What do you think?
