Can we pretty please enable 2 letter searches????

It's REALLY annoying not being able to search for things like m7, cv joints, 2%, and so on and so forth.

What's the big deal? It can't take that much more processing power!

Actually it creates a database problem (size-wise). vBulletin indexes keywords based on the number of letters you specify. Given the number of posts on the site enabling two letter searches could possibly double or triple the size of the database and almost immediately force us to move to a new machine. Sorry I can't be more accomodating.

Then is there a way to allow it within a smaller range of data?

Say for example searching within a thread instead of all forums?

 

Unfortunately no. With vBulletin it is a site-wide (all forums) indexing.
