What does BUMP mean?

Ok, admittedly I am only in 1st gear and have only been on NAM for a few months, but after searching the forums and even the dictionary that NAM has, I can't figure out what BUMP means when used as a post. Help please!

I believe it is used to bump an older thread back up to the top of a forum, or back to the "New Posts" search.

To me though if you can't think of anything worth adding to a thread I have never understood the need to BUMP it back into the manistream. If there is nothing new to add the thread should probably just languish back on page 10

You remember the 70's, right?

Bump (dance)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The bump was a primarily 1970's fad dance wherein the main move of the dance is to lightly "bump" hips on every other main beat of the music. As the dance (and the evening) progressed, the bumping could become more intimate, bumping hip to backside, low bending, etc.

And for a ghastly example of "the Bump" courtesy of a quick search on youtube...

I do not know these people!

Well seeing as this is the Racing & Competition forum, Bump could be Shunt, Crash, Accident or my personal fav' the racing incident. Then again, as competition is a much broader concept, the disco dancing version of the Bump is also acceptable.

Dancin' the night away in sixth gear.....

Hey 2006mcsasteve,

I just got back from a BBQ out in Dublin. It was a funky good time.
Everyone was Doin' the Hustle and Dead on the Double Bump.

Sure gets hot out in the Dub compared to the fog back here in SF.
