I believe the vendors we purchase products from should follow under the same theme as the dealers we purchase our Mini's from.

Can the Forum team, implement the same thing for the vendors, so we can share to other ppl, good and bad experiences.?

Interesting idea. Given this I'd like to ask a couple of additional questions:

1) Since MCO sponsors will come and go over time do you envision that user's would be able to submit new vendors as part of the system?
2 )Would you envision categories of vendors (eg - car care companies, performance parts, etc.)?

This is a feature that I won't be able to implement for some time but I would like to start discussing how it would work so I can develop a road map. Thanks again for the feedback!

I believe the majority of sponsors/vendors, even if they are not a sponsor, sell several categories of MCO products. The possibility of categories, would be easy to navigate, but on the other hand if you had a cross refference of the vendor company name and their products, that might help.

I was leaning more towards a (NAME) category, rather then local, or product category.

Your right, the implementation will be tricky, but I was soooo please to see the Dealer rating system, it moved me towards the idea of the vendor rating system.

Good Luck

So here is a different angle that I've been considering. What I think may be more useful is a product review database. It would work just like the dealer rating system except that users could submit new products and product categories. Take a look at the product review database on http://www.mtbr.com for some ideas. This of course would be linked directly to the manufacturer(s) so they could receive the feedback that is posted about their products. Thoughts?

That looks good to me, how much coding is needed to make it happen?.

Is there a need for the reviewer to supply pictures, or is the main review page created by the moderator?.

Coding is relatively minor given that this would be very similar to the Dealer Rating System. That said the difficulty right now is that I have about 10 site related projects going on right now so it will be some time before I can get it in place. Let's keep discussing what is needed in this database, from a functionality standpoint, as I would like to document the feature set so that when I do free up I can get to work on it quickly. Thanks!

Mark,

OK, I really am leaning more towards a MERCHANT rating system, rather then a product rating syste.

I want to know who provides good service, and is reliable before i buy a product from them. For instance I purchased 3 itmes from a vendor( name not mentioned), and it is going to be 3 weeks before I get the product, their website mentioned nothing about back orders, or being out of stock.
