I see that the site can do polls ala the monthly photo poll ...

Is there not a way to let everyone do a poll when they want ... or is that something not desirable?

You know, something like a poll on favorite colors or a poll on whatever?

 

We haven't allowed them for general use since there is no way to monitor
the content of the poll. Given the amount of questionable posts we
receive I would suspect that would be the case with polls. That said I
can offer poll creation to club coordinators if they feel it would be
beneficial to the club and a person already recognized as a coordinator
would be creating the poll and its content.

At this point polling is enabled for admins and coordinators (to allow them to get headcounts). Basically the feeling at the time we made the decision to go that way versus enabling it for everyone was that based on experience with polling on other sites, polling decreased the signal to noise ratio (I'm sure more than a few of us have seen more than our share of polls around which wheels someone should let the internet pick for them). That's the rationale behind it anyway.
