The same thing happened last week and I contacted the powers that be because I was only a few posts from 6th gear at the time and I lost 30 posts, and they didnt seem to know what happened either.

I lost over 200 posts as a result of a new software program, but it's proportional at this stage of the game...

Did the system count PMs before, and now doesn't? I wonder what the difference is...

No, the system only counts posts made in the open forums. All I know is that a new program re-counted posts and when they were reconciled, peoples posts were cut back a bit.

Means nothing to me to loose a few post count. A post is a post, counted or not.

One of the boards I post on has no post count for their Off Topic posts. I still post to it more than the other forums.

I hadn't noticed, but I think I lost around 100 or so. (shrug)

Usually you only lose posts if you've posted to a thread that gets deleted.

I think you'd better call the cops, Clo. Post Theft. The new threat to society.

"Yes, officer, he got my social security number, both plates, work rights to my first born male child, and 200 post from a web site about cars."

There's a law suit in there somewhere.

Every now and then we make an update to the site that requires us to do a post count update which reconciles your actual posts to the number associated with your account. We very rarely delete threads (only move them into a review area) so you post count should not drop a great deal. That said if you have 20,000 posts like Clover the percentage drop she may see versus others may be a greater

Anyway...I just wanted everyone to know that this is nothing for concern.

Nice of you to try and cover Mark, but w/ rogue count-theives in our midst no one is truly safe. Just in case however, unbenownst to anyone here on NAM, yours truly has arranged a secret code to be introduced into the vast NAM database, cleverly designed so that in the case of a wanton, deliberate, and heinous occurance of post-theft the code would be enacted, thus causing the culpret's common household toaster to spontanously combust. Should such an occurance take place...carefully designed to be conspicuous, odd, and, one would hope, highly visible...our culprit will be identified and nabbed.

And because I have designed this system myself, I am most certain it will be completely and totally foolproof.

Or as an alternative I could just remove any mention of post counts from the site and send everyone non-linear

Perhaps he's just exaggerating in a very Carl Sagan way.

Did the post count adjustment cause anyone to "gear-down"??
