What happened to El Diablo?

I'm sure I'll get some smart remarks from those who didn't appreciate El Diablo...

However, I'm curious as to what happened with El Diablo. I, for one, felt that he brought a lot to the community. He always seemed to push the envelope around here. Although I disagreed sometimes with the way he posted, I felt in general that he was a big asset to NAM. I've noticed many of his postings have been removed from numerous threads. It's like he just vanished into thin air.

So, did he get banned? Did jump ship and go to another forum? Anyone know...or is it being kept quiet for a reason?

Thanks!

Sorry about that...I just realized I posted to the wrong forum. How do I move the thread?

Disappeared

El Diablito Rojo was "disappeared" by thugs of the current NAM fascist dictatorship. He was last seen being stuffed into the back seat of a black 1965 Ford Falcon. Viva El NAM libre! Nunca nos entregaremos!

Oh, give me a break. I may as well point out before this thread disappears that ElDiabolito or whatever his name was was a pain in the ***, and I'm glad he's gone. I don't care how useful he was at times, he was an infantile jerk who deserved to be banned.

Too bad El is gone

I thought the guy provided some very useful input actually. His car definitely was pushing the limits for Mini mods. I think it is a loss that he no longer is on this site.

Providing useful input doesn't exempt you from the site guidelines.

Hmm. How about that? I just figured he'd moved on to whatever the next trendy thing was. Like maybe twin-turbocharged Scion xBs or something.

He's still a MINIac.
Saw him at breakfast this morning.
Also saw him a couple of weeks ago at Irwindale Speedway.

He's really a cool guy.
You just need to know him in the real world.

I had the pleasure of meeting El Diablito in person, and I can say he was a real nice guy. We discussed the MINI and he was well educated on the matter. From what a gather from our conversation was that he has been racing bikes and cars for a while. I miss most of the comments even though I did not agree with all of them, but that's what makes for a good discussion .

My .02 cents

El is a cool guy, its definitly nam's loss that they were so petty to ban him. There are others on here that I can name that are as combative in their posts as el was or even more.

Nobody will be liked by everyone, and that is the way the real world works. NAM is getting so sterile and boring because a REAL discussion isnt allowed.

Really a pitty that there is such petty moderation on this forum...oh my will I be banned for saying so ? I had a post deleted once also and the reason was really petty !

Moderators should not be vendors here and vise versa. Sponsors of a forum maybe but without moderation privilidges.

Flame on!

This thread is going the same place as the "Why has NAM become so boring" thread. Check out the later posts if you don't want to read the entire thing.

Its a shame that apparently he didn't project that well here then.

The main thing I remember about him was that often when anyone posted about anything performance related they did to their cars he jumped on the thread and put it down and stated in one way or another that the only real hp increase was his way. I don't know what he did in particular to get banned and may have missed other, better contributions he made so I can't remark on either of those issues, but I thought the above behavior was tiresome in the least, sometimes outright obnoxious, and didn't add anything to those conversations.

the biggest part that was wrong when he was banned is all his posts an pm's were deleted. What if someone was doing a transaction with him and the pm's were their accounting of the conversations with him? What if the deal went bad and they no longer had the pm's to back up the situation?

I think deleting the posts and pm's was an irresponsible thing to do.

El was removed after numerous attempts by the moderation team and Mark to get El to post in a more productive manner. His posting was moderated for a period before the banning and there were many posts which didn't go live on the site because they a) violated the guidelines (primarily respect for other forum members) and b) didn't live up to the expectations that were clearly communicated to him to remain on the site.

When someone is told about the expectations to remain on the site and then on multiple occasions shows that they just don't understand what's being asked of them, they will be removed.

Dave
