Beneath the bonnet: Electrical?
Can you provide me with an idea of the types of discussion topics that would be better suited for a separate forum rather than in the current Beneath the Bonnet? If we were to create a new forum how should the current Beneath the Bonnet be described to capture the other types of topics that are not appropriate for the electrical forum.
I'm not opposed to creating a new forum for this but need to first understand the need and how it would relate to what we already have in place.

Sorry I was not more detailed... I was called to dinner.
The reason that I made the suggestion is because I have noticed (as I am sure you have!) that the board is growing to such a size that searching is difficult. I don't think it is the search script iteslf (I rather like the detailed search) but rather the fact that while the forums for the most part are broken up well enough to allow good categorization, I have problems with electrical questions (wiring). Perhaps it could be worked into the NAV/Audio forum? I dunno. Beneath the bonnet seems to have gotten very large and cumbersome, and I thought parhaps a sub-division, as you did with Modifications (drivetrain and suspension) might be appropriate (mechanical and electrical). I have noticed alot of threads on wiring aux lamps, wiring radar detectors, switches, brake light mods, power sockets, etc.
So basically The suggestion of a sub-category was to aid in searching, and therefore to possibly help limit repeat threads. I always try to search for a topic before I start it again, because there is SO much out there!
I know there is a LOT for you to do, and you are doing a great job! I've been enjoying the site since 02 (I think!), and it has been and continues to be a vital tool in enjoying and tinkering with my favorite car!

Let me know your thoughts on this approach.
Thanks!

Yes, you're right: that WOULD make more sense.
I know it would be very helpful to me! I can play a mechanic, but I don't play electricial nearly as well.
Thanks!

Thanks!

New Forum Added :: Electrical Modifications
I just finished adding in the Electrical Modifications forum. Currently it displays right above Navigation and Audio, but we may adjust the order slightly.
Also, I moved over a little over 40 threads that were wiring related from other parts of the General Interest forums.

Being that the MINI is a very electrical-intensive vehicle with some unique ideas and quirks, it's not a bad idea that there should be a separate forum for electrical mods and problems.
