Link to current attachments possible?

I have a posting in one thread that already has an uploaded attachment JPG file. If I am posting in a new and different thread, but want the same picture in it, I see no way to tell the attachment manager about it, and am forced to upload a second copy of the same photo. Am I missing the way to do this, or is it not possible?

Now that the personal gallery system is in place I would recommend not using attachments to include pictures in your posts. To learn more about using your personal gallery be sure to visit the FAQs as they discuss how to use the galleries, include pictures in your posts, etc.

Find and Manage Previously Posted Attachments

You can find and manage previously posted attachments through the UserCP

That's at the bottom of the left hand column in the UserCP if you are manually navigating there.

From there, you can get the image properties (right mouse button click on the image, select "properties", then copy the image URL). When you post place it between a couple of image tags.

For instance:

If you select the image properties you'll get

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ttachmentid=80

when you go to post that as a picture you'd use the following text
[*img]https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=80[/*img]
(only you'll put in your URL and remove the two * that I put in so you could read the text).

All the attachments are shown and you can click on any of them to get the image properties. You can also delete old attachments that you no longer need uploaded.

As Mark Points Out, the better way to manage images now is to use the personal gallery space you have on NAM. The above should really only be used if you are trying to access images that are were uploaded as attachments.
