I go to the CP, and it shows in the "new thread" area maybe one thread, which after a few days disappears. I can unsubscribe to those in this area.

However, I then click on "View All Subscribed Threads" and I see like 17 threads which I'm subscribed to, and once this list comes up, I see no way to unsubscribe from any of them. I did a search on the page for "unsubscribe" and didn't get any hits, and I've searched all over. Am I stuck with a thread subscription once it no longer qualifies as "New"? TIA.

Go to:

UserCP / List Subscriptions

Then click on the box next to "notifications"

That will automatically check all the threads you are subscribed to.

Unclick any threads you don't want to delete your subscription to.

scroll down to the bottom and in the drop down menu next to Selected Threads, select "Delete Subscription"

 

I clicked on UserCP, and then clicked on List Subscriptions. Your next item doesn't correspond to what I see. Here's where I see the word "subscriptions" (doing a browser find):

- on the top left, where the folder heirarchy is listed - to the left is a folder icon, not a box
- On the left navigation area, the same "List Subscriptions" button I originally clicked.
- a hyperlink preceeded by the words "Subscribed Threads in Folder:" - again, no checkbox (this is actually listed twice, the first box has "folder controls" in it, the second has all the subscribed threads listed).
- in the "forum jump" list box at the very bottom, which has a "go" button to the right, but no checkbox to the left.

The only checkboxes I see on the entire screen are the "notification" column on the right, and those are all un-checked. Could I have possibly set something to make the unsubscribe functionality go away?

you're right it is NOTIFICATION, not subscriptions that has the check box. I fixed the instructions above.
