Why is this site running so slow? Only the last few weeks I have noticed it being really slow. I have cable Internet so I can get around really fast, and have not noticed it on any other sites. I can almost not use the galleries because that is the slowest and just take forever. Is there anything that can be done with this?

Mark: could we try taking the galleries offline for a couple days and see if that helped the situation?

The funny thing is I was in the middle of posting this problem this morning, but my power went out. All I can account for it is the higher numbers of people on the site and the amount of stuff saved on the website. I mean there is over 100,000 posts on mini talk alone. It has to be slowing things down. I think that maybe if that is the problem, then there needs to be some spring cleaning in the works.

One thing could be that right now there are 118 people on this site. I think it is fine with a couple of slow times to load larger items but overall I have no complaints.

I've taken the galleries out of the menus to reduce the load. The images in the galleries are still there and will be included in posts but browsing will be disabled. Let me know if this appears to improve the site's performance. Thanks!

After surfing around here it seems to be about the same going from page to page. I think trying to use the galleries was a large part of the problem. Normally the page loads fast for me, but if I had the galleries open at the same time trying to load a photo or look at photo's then it would slow everything with this site down, but I could still surf other sites with speed. I am not a tech so I have no idea why or anything, and since I have no where to host photos then people like me need to be able to get to the galleries. Posts always look better with photos to explain or show differences. I just thought I would let you know if there was something that was over looked or maybe it is time to find a new host with more speed or something. But I have heard a few people say it's been slow. But again just bring up the subject. thanks

What kind of server specs is this site running on? Just curious.

I've noticed it a lot too. No other forums are giving me any issues (although most of those use vbulletin - except for one running phpbb). Sometimes it'll be hitting the homepage, sometimes it's posting, some times it's just click a link....it really is unpredictable but I will add that it does happen in the middle of the night too when there are not many people on the site.

Mark, you've got puresportscar running on vbulletin, hopefully you're still planning on putting it in here.

Mark,

The site seems to be faster now than it was for me earlier in the day.
