It looks like they made a change to the system. Click "MARKET" in the bar under the NAM logo at the top left of the page. It will get you to the old site.

Whatever happened to the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought?

Well the "old" Marketplace, is based on a system called photopost. While it may not have seemed "Broken" to you, it has been the cause of a great many headaches for other, with typically 10-30 people per week not being able to post, edit, mark sold or find their own ads, and with it's drastically different interface has also been reported as being hard for new users to figure out. There have also been many reported issues with the zipcode database, ads being marked sold without anyone's action, ads disappearing without any action being taken and a few other bugs over the years. As it is photopost software, it is completely a 3rd party plugin, which means it takes much longer to relay our concerns and software bugs effecting our site, and then be able to update the plugin after some of those fixes are implemented. You can search side feedback for the term "Marketplace" and see how many more threads have been started to solve marketplace tech issues vs. how many marketplace issues there were before the photo post was installed, and that representation does not factor in all the emails and PMs that I and the other moderators receive with people seeking assistance in being able to post their ad.

We will soon be moving to a different marketplace plugin, with an interface that more closely mirrors forum posting while retaining marketplace only search parameters and features to search based on price and such; however that is still taking a little bit of time to get ironed out. However in the meantime as the complaints about the "old" photopost based marketplace became so frequent and so severe, we decided to offer an interm solution to those who cannot make the old marketplace work, as well as those who find a forum based interface easier to use. And there is nothing to say you can't cross post the ads or, search in both places until the full change is made. There will be a sitewide announcement with more details once the new marketplace plugin is installed, and it is our understanding that everything placed into the interm forum marketplace will be able to migrate into the new marketplace.

I know that change isn't always easy, requires the modification of some habits, and everyone has their own preferences; but I do ask that you understand we are trying to find something that will provide the most benefit the more than 2000 users that visit the site everyday, all with varying levels of experience on internet car forums.

Working fine for me. Might be a browser issue on your computer.

I tried a couple other browsers. No difference. Now there are a couple posts that have just gone up. It is as if all the existing posts are gone from all the different sections.

Huh????????

I see the problem, if you enter through the Forums it does not show all of the listings.
Try the Market link at the very top of the page. Between "Forums" and "Gallery". That still seems to work.

Marketplace - What happened?

The marketplace has a new look and the traffic there has died. What happened?

Agreed! What I don't get is where all the traffic went.

I thought

I thought I was doing something wrong, because I kept looking and nothing. Has this been long? I just got back in with the purchase of a new JCW and was trying to see what was "For Sale" not a whole lot.

I always thought the marketplace on here should be like on every other forum... where people just make threads with parts/wheels/cars for sale and they can "bump" their listing after a few days of inactivity. So much simpler and much better for the seller. When I sell things, I see an immediate drop off in interest once my item gets dropped off that first page.

I, too, was hoping to see a more active marketplace.

it's sad that nam hasn't adopted this approach. i'm on e90post and the bump method works wonders. it would help nam vastly.

The market doesn't seem any different to me, I get emails all throughout the day with new ads constantly since I've subscribed to a couple of categories.

What I did recently notice was a new "marketplace" which is a sub-forum, this one seems pretty dead as opposed to the actual marketplace.

Marketplace: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/marketplace/
Marketplace as a sub-forum: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rketplace-389/

Not sure why there's 2 sections, seems as if they should be combined. I also feel the market should be more of a forum where you can bump/add/modify things and it's easier to browse/search. I've been on vwvortex for nearly a decade and the classified sections works great (for those who follow the guidelines and list FS items properly that is).

If you use the link in the upper left hand corner of the forum it will take you to the one you all know and love. It's right under the NAM logo.

I don't know why they changed it. Especially without telling anyone. At least I know they didn't tell me

It is in the process of being changed to a new system. We get hundreds of complaints about the current one. I'm glad it works for those who are speaking up in this thread...I wish that were the case across the board.

We once did have a thread-style system; when NAM was sold back in 2007ish it was changed to the current one. That one has not worked well, thus why there is a little bit of "in limbo" going on right now. Thanks for your patience.
