Countryman Forum

Hi,

I think it would be beneficial for the Countryman forum to have a Nav/Audio subforum just like there is for other MINI models. There is a Nav/Audi subforum but it is listed under Mods. I'm looking for an area to discuss MINI Connected and Nav issues for the Countryman. System is the same as 2011 Coopers so should there be one forum to discuss this topic or one for each model?

The forum under Modifications is the appropriate place to discuss this. We're trying out a slightly different layout of the Countryman forums to see if we can better organized overall.

Yes but why under mods? We're talking stock. No one will look there and all posts will end up in main category. Sorry just don't get the logic.

The forum lists were assembled before the release of the Countryman, based on our experience with past MINIs modifications did fit as the vast majority of such threads are about modifying sound systems, upgrading the stock system or aftermarket GPS selections and installs. Also using the various other sections listed under modifications there are frequently threads about the stock car, that allow those sections to expand from strictly modifications and develop more into expertise areas. So based on past experience and ease of readability of the layout trying something new with the placement of Nav/Audio is something that I believe holds merit in attempting to make the forums more usable for our members.

In these first few months it's going to be a learning process to see where things are fitting in and as the spring rolls around there should be enough activity to really see how things are working out and what changes need to be made. And there will likely be a dedicated All4 section added before that point.

Makes sense and I am must defer to your expertise on the matter. Considering that that the MINI Connected and Nav systems present such an overwhelming amount of technology, I suspect they will create many threads.

Also, since the Connected system is the same across all 2011 models, does it make any sense to have a unified forum for Connected without regard to Cooper model? As far as Connected goes, what holds true for a Countryman will hold true for a hardtop.

I would agree with this - it does seem like we're going to get fragmented coverage of Connected; it's the same product on all the model line, after all. It seems like there should be a central "Connected" top level forum?
