I would like to be able to read a forum where people write experiences they had with a store so that we would be aware of what to expect when purchasing from that particular store.

Thanks!

Kenchan,
This may be of some help. Links: Aftermarket suppliers

This is an area of the site that to date has seen little use. There are however some comments and reviews listed for many of the suppliers out there. If we can get more people to make use of this and leave comments, this could develop into yet another great resource here on North American Motoring.

Hope this helps.
Happy Motoring,
SW

hummm....i think you'll get more feedback if it was under Special Interest.

You have a Dealer Rating System... why not a Vendor Rating System ?

A vendor rating system is an interesting thought.

Some problems with it.
If all posts are done honestly then great it can be reliable.
If new users post very good or very bad things then it could boost or tarnish a vendor's reputation and that means sponsorship of NAM.
If you look on ebay there are feedback ratings that offer some idea of reliability but there are scams done to boost a rating to gain an edge.

We don't need all glowing comments nor unfair reviews. Many times it is just a communication problem or somthing gets lost along the way. Many of these vendors are fairly small businesses so it isn't always like a big company to help with everything.

Everybody has good and bad days.

I've given this some consideration in the past and I don't think its a bad idea if its managed correctly. What I would like to see is constructive feedback provided (positive and negative) through some mechanism so that vendors can use it to improve. I think I've found a system that will support this but I will need to further evaluate it after I get the site migrated (currently waiting for the look and feel elements to be completed so I can get to work). With offer this functionality I would want to make sure that each submission is moderated...meaning that before everyone can see it must be reviewed. I want to ensure that if someone does have an issue with a vendor that that person first tries to work directly with the vendor before airing issues on the site. If the vendor does help get an issue resolved than that is great feedback for the system. If the vendor can't or doesn't help than that is also information that should be captured....as long as it is done in a constructive way (ie - no ranting...provide possible solutions instead).

Thanks

Mark

Amen, lets be sure that things don't get out of control here...every vendor has horror stories about delays, shipping disasters, product quality issues, etc....

I like the idea about the vendors having the chance to reconcile before a post is completed...
