Lately when I've tried to use the search function, it has often not worked for me. I don't even get the screen that says "sorry, no results" or whatever; I only get a screen with the MCO heading and a pull-down forum box (usually with MINI Talk displayed, unless I choose to search a specific forum, in which case that one is displayed - only by name in the box though; below it is just blank black space).

This problem hasn't been happening constantly, but more often than not. Sorry for the confusing description; has anyone else experienced this? Might it be some sort of setting on my browser causing this?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
This is the first report I've seen of this. That said, the sooner I can get the site to the new software platform the better.
Let me know if you find a way to reproduce this problem consistently.

Mark

OK, if I hit the "search" link straight from this thread, then try to search the Off Topic forum for "zoo gang" (a book that I posted about a while back), this consistently happens. I get a page that shows the basic frame of the site (MCO heading, main menu at left) with a sponsor banner ad, the link to the sponsor directory, and what appears to be a forum pull-down menu. Even the pull-down menu isn't quite right, though - I can only see as far as Racing & Competition, and can't scroll down any farther.

Hope this helps! I'm glad to point it out if it hadn't been noted before. I've noticed it for at least a few weeks now.

Chris

Chris,
What browser and operating system are you using? I can't get this to fail using Mozilla on OSX or with IE on Windows 98. Thanks

I was getting the same thing that Chris describes a couple nights ago. It was very intermittent and seemed to happen on about 50% of my searches. I was using a dial-up internet connection on a high-end Windows XP computer. On my other computer -- with a high-speed corporate internet connection and an ancient Windows 95 system -- I have never had a problem.

Right now I'm at work using IE 6.0 on Windows 2000, but I also experience the problem at home, using Windows XP and Netscape 7.

I was also using IE, the latest version, on the Windows XP system I had the problem on.
