Another forum I belong to, has a built in IM chat feature that works only for members that are signed in.

Any chance of incorporating somthing like this into NAM?

 

It's been suggested many times since 2002. I'll be interested in reading Mark's response.

 

I agree an Instant Message Feature would be great!

 

To date I've not really been wild about adding this because if you are discussing MINI topics none of the information is archived or shared with other members of the site. That said NAM has become a much more social network than I ever expected so I can see the interest in something like this.

Right now my goal is to get to a new server, upgrade our existing software, and release a couple of things I've been working on...seemingly for years. Once I can get those tasks out of the way I'll take a look at adding something like this to the site.

In the meantime can you point me to some of the sites you frequent where the IM tools you especially like? Let me know what you like and why so I can find something that is best of breed.
