Site Speed II

Mark,
Why is it your site is the only one in the universe I can toggle and have to suck huge delays on connections, yours only!

I can go anywhere on the internet and have the instant response I expect, but your board is lagging not only in time response in seconds, but hours at time to responding.

Their can’t be that many people telling you this and you do not understand it is from your side, not something wrong on our side.

What’s the problem!!!

Never seemed to have this problem before Goggle Adds.

Well the interesting thing is that I turned off Google Ads yesterday to see if that was the problem and obviously you're still seeing problems. Given that is turned off that isn't the problem

Still looking for the source of the issue while juggling a hundred other site-related things

BTW - it would really be helpful if you indicated when exactly you see the problem.

Thanks

Mark

Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rchid=2849501”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

4am till 4:40 am same as every morning

I can surf NAM off and on for a few hours on my PC then my connection to NAM craps out. But if I go upstairs to my Mac, instant responses from NAM again. Both computers are running on the same internet connection...its almost like I go over a bandwith limit on the PCs IP, and then by using the Macs IP the "bandwith limit" is reset.

if your using the same internet connection (like the same cable box) ... and a router, than your using the same basic IP connection with the router handing out subnet addresses.

Could not connect from about 7:59pm to 8:34pm central time. Sat there "busy", didn't do anything on a couple windows. One was "busy" the whole time-I didn't touch it, didn't time out, nothing-then finally loaded at 8:34.

Another window I kept retrying, and once in a while would timeout and say "could not connect".

Buncha other surfing was normal the whole time.

Posts in "New Posts" screen show an 8:01 to 8:36pm central time window with no posts made. Had been pretty active before that.

Thanks for the additional information. Looks like its time to get the migration under way to a new, faster, bigger, more processor box. This will take some time because its very time intensive setting everything up and getting the migration done. Given this please bear with me as it will take a while to make it happen (ie - it could take 40-60 days of set up, planning and testing before we can get there).

In doing some additional investigation I found evidence of some search crawlers/spiders thrashing the site around 4am (Central) each day. I've put some restrictions in place to keep them in check. Let me know if this improves the site responsiveness, ability to reach, etc. at this time of day.

Thanks!

Mark

Its still very strange that it craps out on my PC, but then works fine on my Mac :.:Rubs chin in though:.:

My connection from both home and work came right up. This is the time of day I would be waiting an hour for a connection.

I used to get occasional (1-3 times/day) hangs where the site wouldn't respond for quite a while. I've got to say-I haven't had any for a couple of days. Most unusual.

Thanks!

I need to add I'm in Central Time and around 4 AM is when it would go down Mark.

Thanks for the hard work on this.

The last few nights, I've had serious lags starting almost exactly at 1230am PDT. I could still open up a new browser tab and get the main page to load, but replies to threads take about a minute to post from the time I hit "submit".

The site does not work most of the time now. It's been going on for about 5 days.

This message was only in place for about 30 minutes on Monday. Can you clear your browser's cache along with any firewall cache you may be using? I suspect that you have the above got cached when I was upgrading some software on the site.

Thanks

Mark
