FYI - Remus exhaust sale - very cheap!!

FYI for all you bargain hunters. Seems Remus USA has a lot of overstock and is selling them on an ebay store at a VERY discounted price.

$300 for the MCS

$200 for the MC

Really good price.

http://stores.ebay.com/Remus-Racing-...dZ2QQpZ2QQtZkm

Better hurry on the MCS. Someone has an offer on the remaining 14 but you can still get one at the buy it now price. Or make a better offer. I have never seen that kind of auction(?) before so I am assuming that is how it works.

I am not associated with Remus but just thought I would pass along a little find I made.

Has anyone on NAM purchased from this ebay vendor? Reputable? Any comments on the Remus system for the standard Cooper? Thanks

The seller is reputable as the seller is remus USA. I ordered mine monday night and it was shipping today I believe. From what I have heard remus is a touch louder then the borla sport and it gives a deep sound. Generally remus is known for quality and acustics and not so much for power adders. That was fine by me as most aftermarket exhausts don't add huge amounts of power and for the price it couldn't be beat.

I just ordered a Remus for my MC. I haven't heard one in person, but for that price, I'll take my chances.

FYI - yes I bought one too for my MCS. Awaiting delivery which is probably Monday.

I was a little concerned too about them being a new vendor with little feedback. I checked them out and called them too. It is indeed Remus USA.

The comments from the rep was that the exhaust is going to be like the stock muffler at idle and normal driving but with a slightly deeper tone. however, when you get on it, the sound will be louder than stock. He also said that it will not be as loud as Magnaflow.

At the price, it is worth a shot. I almost bought the V2 for the same reason. however, I trust the Remus name more.

I am glad you guys are buying. I would hate to someone buy them all and then turn around and sell them back to us for more.

I just bought one for my MSC. Thanks for the info.

NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A FULL CATBACK SYSTEM.
YOU CUT AND USE ABOUT 4 FEET OF THE STOCK SYSTEM;
THE PIPE THAT BOLTS TO THE CAT.

What do you guys think about that? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Doesn't bother me, the stock midpipe on my MCS was 2.25" which is plenty big in my opinion for a 1.6l motor with a pretty small charger on it. I figure at most I'll be making 230hp down the line and this will support that just fine. And if at any point I don't like the exhaust or think it's restrictive I'll probably be able to sell it for what I paid for it. No biggie.

The only downside to me is having to hack up the stock system, I would have prefered to keep it as is

I agree with RUK.

As far as the stock system, you really cannot give them away. Especially when you have 40k miles on it. If I make a clean cut, I should be able to sleeve it back together if I absolutely hate the Remus. Most likely it will make a garage wall ornament until the wife yells at me. Or someone could have it for a potential one ball experiment.

So, is the cutting something I can do, or will I need to take it to a muffler shop?

I assume that the instructions will give a cut length.
Cut it with a saw or a tubing cutter.

The hardest part about putting a new exhaust on is getting the nuts loose
that connect the exhaust flange to the cat.

I don,t know about the Cooper but the change that was made to the
Cooper S exhaust in 2004 was only the rear exhaust hangers.
An exhaust shop can rework the hangers to fit a 2005 Cooper S.

Mine is an 05, the only hcange is MINI changed the hangers on all cars built from January 04 on. A muffler shop or your local performance shop can take care of it. Basically they would take the old hanger off and just change it's position.

I see you're in South Jersey so give Eric at Helix13 a call. I know he's done it already for another 05 that had a remus exhaust on.

I just looked at the ebay sight for the Cooper S exhaust.
I bought one (Buy It Now) taking the number available from 14 to 13.
There is a bidder who I assume is a vender (Performancestop) that
has a bid in for 14 exhaust systems. If people don't "Buy It Now",
and that bidder has high bid, he will indeed buy them and try to sell them
to "us" for more money.

And here's a pic of what you should be getting for an MCS, at least...I think. Anyone know if you still get the lifetime warranty with the eBay purchase?

dunno about the warranty. you would think that they would carry the standard warranty since you are buying directly from them. Best advice is to ask them. They were fairly responsive to my inquiries.

Here are two LARGE pics from someone's gallery on MINI2:

Not sure what in the world he did around that one clamp, but at least you get to see it on the car.

The change in the hangers is more like Jan-Feb 04 on.

I have a Sept 03 built 04 and it has the old style hangers.
