I already got ten people-thanks!
If you're interested in this, email Ian Cull directly @ GBMINI@minisontop.com --do not reply to this thread! Thanks, Jenni
Finally somebody did it--came up with a wiring harness for automatic window up.
And he included options, like if you want to use your fog toggle, held in position for 5 seconds, to activate your garage door opener, etc.
The first run of 25 units is just going out, and I'm bummed that i just missed out being in on it.

Cool...here's some more info.
Here's the link for the installation instructions.
http://www.gbmini.net/MINIcircuit/install.shtml
I screwed up the price on the garage door opener thing, there's 2 kinds, and here's the prices for those...
Version Cost (US dollars)
Auto-up windows only $40.57
Auto-up & "track mode DSC" $47.49
Auto-up & switched garage door opener $47.23
Auto-up & powered garage door opener $54.55

add me to the list as well for the auto up harness. You realise, that if these things work well without any bugs or other weirdness, that a lot will need to be made. Everyone's gonna want one. The non auto up windows are one of the few things I don't like about my car.
If it all works out, my husband will want one as well...I volunteered to be the guinea pig.

I am in for Auto up and Track mode. Please PM when you will take orders.
This is a very clever item and its about time that someone with the electronic genius to solve the problem got fed up enough.
Why make everything networked and programable if you are going to keep it proprietary?
Thanks to Ian

I'm interested in an auto-up version. But do I understand correctly that it works by holding the door unlock switch up for five seconds? It seems like I could close the windows in that amount of time...
Or does it auto close whenever the doors get unlocked?

Holding the unlock switch up for 5 seconds is to program the auto-up window(s) initially. After it's programmed, 2 taps up will automatically close the window.

Thanks all
A couple of points just to make sure we all are on the same page:
1. The garage door opener feature controls *YOUR* existing opener - you don't get one with the circuit!
2. Installation is more mechanical than anything - you need to get to the back of the toggle switch panel.
3. The "track mode DSC" allows you to configure your car so that DSC is disabled when you start, or allows normal configuration with DSC enabled. You can switch back and forth in a few seconds of toggle switch play as often as you wish.
4. As mentioned, holding a toggle switch for 5+ seconds is only needed to change the circuit configuration - to enable or disable auto-up on one or other window, to enable or disable track mode DSC, etc.

I am also interested, but I would like to knwo more specifics about each, especially the window operations and switched vs. powered grage door opener. For example on the DCS, does the "track mode DSC" make DSC-disabled the deault mode when you start the car and allow you to activiate DSC by hitting the toggle? I normally hit the DCS off as part of my routine everytime I start the car. This leaves it on as a default for others who may drive the car and for whom I may want it on.

Dan,
I hope your toggle panel does *not* smoke any time soon
PMC,
Correct. When you enable the "track mode DSC", the circuit will mimic clicking the DSC toggle about two seconds after you start the car. This will turn DSC off. After that you are free to click the DSC toggle as you wish.
When the "track mode DSC" is disabled, the circuit does not affect the DSC ...
To enable "track mode DSC", hold the door unlock toggle for more than 5 seconds, then (with door unlock still held), click the DSC toggle. To disable, repeat but holding "door lock" instead.

Is there an automatic safety stop on the window circuit if the window hits an obstruction? If there is, great. If not, I hope you've got a lot of insurance backing you, as you're opening the door to a major liability claim.
You know, as sure as the sun rises, that some schmuck somewhere is going to get their__________ (your choice of appendages) in the way of the window coming up. If there's any damage done, it's going to come back on you.
Not trying to instigate anything here....just bringing up a point.

Because I love having the auto-up windows in my MINI, I'm willing to sign off a waiver to relief any responsibility from Ian. Most people who like this feature will probably do the same. Not really an issue, IMO.

I have a 2004 MCS. In the operator manual it says there is automatic up on the driver's side PG.28. However, I do not have auto up in the car?! My car is in the shop getting a new RPM meter and I asked them to "program it". Perhaps this is a new feature for 2004.
On the other hand I still would be interested in the garage opener. There is a dead button (without function) behind the steering wheel on the left hand side. It is the button that is the mirror image of the one on the right hand side between the volume up and down button. Can this button be used for a garage door or any other extra function?

This is a very good point.
Which is why (1) the circuit as shipped does NOT do auto-up windows. It requires specific action from the owner to enable them, and (2) a double-click is required to action the auto-up function ...
Beyond that, you are right. What a world we live in.
Yang, this is a regular discussion point. You may be surprised to learn that your manual is not always accurate! The auto-up description covers a function which is available in other countries, but not in USA.
