My 2009 MINI Cooper S is now up for sale. This is one of the best street & track dedicated MINIs in the country. It’s faster than any factory JCW and even the highly priced GP2. This is not only due to the powertrain, but the car’s fantastic suspension. No cheap stuff here. Suspension includes KW, Vorshlag, and Hotchkis. More details found below. The price is $18,000 and of course I’m willing to negotiate. All reasonable offers accepted. Considering what I’ve invested into the car compared to others on the market for high performance street & track, this is easily one of the best on the market.
The reason I’m selling the car is because I bought another car and it makes no sense for me to have two sports cars in my garage. I would much rather invest in the new project.
I am the original owner of the car. Non-smoker. It has been paid off so you don’t have to worry about dealing with banks. From 2009-2010 it was my daily driver. 90% of the miles were accrued on freeways, as I always had to take them to work. With 50,000 miles on the clock in the beginning of 2011, I bought another car as my daily driver and the MINI became a dedicated summer fun toy. No more rain or snow from that point forward and the car was primarily driven on track along with fair weather street fun. On average I went to 4-6 track events per year. It was also properly stored away for the winters at that point. Detailing work is above par and the paint still has a “mile deep” shine. The car has been babied by me and drives fantastically.

The car has had common repairs done for N14 engine powered R56 models by Motor City MINI and myself. I have attached pictures to prove this. This includes:
• Timing chain system, replaced at 11,056 miles – Motor City MINI
• Auxiliary water pump recall, replaced at 52,399 miles– Motor City MINI
• Water pump replaced at 41,631 miles – Motor City MINI
• Carbon buildup checked and cleaned every year by hand
• Intercooler cleaned of any oil mist condensation yearly
• Front control arm bushings replaced with Powerflex polyurethane bushings

When I first received the car I did oil & filter changes at 500, 1500, and 5000 miles with Royal Purple 5W-30 full synthetic oil. This oil is far better than BMW branded oil, which is only a blended formula. From that point forward the oil was changed every 5000 miles. When my car became my dedicated track toy, I changed the oil every 1000 miles since I put the car on the track 4-6 weekends out of the year.
On the street it carves up corners with ease and has plenty of low end torque lending to effortless acceleration. It’s an absolute joy on a winding country road. The car behaves like a nimble furious beast on track. In the proper hands it has no problem thoroughly embarrassing Mustangs, Camaros, and other pony cars. Some cars may pull ahead on the straights, but in the curves it is game over for them.
It has more power/torque than a factory JCW thanks to a Stage 2 tune by Evolve Automotive. 215 peak horsepower and 260 ft-lbs torque at the flywheel. It is tweaked with reliability in mind and only peaks boost to 17 psi unlike other more dangerous tunes that push the stock N14 engine beyond its comfort zone. The car comes with the Evolve-R OBDII to USB tool to flash tune files to the car with your personal computer. If you decide to further modify the powertrain, simply contact Evolve with the VIN# of the car and they’ll be able to perform custom tuning for you. The stock tune is also be provided with the car.

One of the most noticeable features of the car is its interior. It is focused on driver performance and style. The seats and harnesses are critical to the driver & road feel. Harnesses are installed according to Schroth Racing guidelines. On track, you can steer the car with your fingertips as you let the seat and harness hold your body perfectly. The seats are mounted to the floor with CNC cut aluminum brackets from VAC Motorsports. In addition, they are mounted at their lowest setting to keep the center of gravity of the vehicle as low as possible. The interior is fully removed with the exception of the forward cockpit. All exposed surfaces are painted matte black to maintain a sharp look. This allows for weight savings while maintaining the comfortable factory trim and carpet in the driver and passenger area.
The car isn’t perfect. Here are some known small issues:
• Bonnet has common very small rock chips on the front. This is a very common issue for all MINIs because of their body shape.
• Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is not working. I’m not sure if it’s the transmitters or the receiver in the car. The light on the dash will blink for the first minute of driving, then stay illuminated the rest of your journey. For the diligent driver that properly checks tire pressure with a mechanical gage, this is just a nuisance light.
• The airbag light is on. This is from removal of the factory seatbelt system and side curtain airbags. It is nothing but a light. The 6-point harness are much safer than the factory 3-point system. The front driver and passenger airbags are still intact and will activate in the event of a crash.
• Not CARB approved. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS.
• Factory Bi-Xenon headlights have a small amount of sunburn on the inside. Nothing offensive though.
• Passenger-side rear quarter panel got keyed in 2011. It was professional repaired by Autometric of Royal Oak, MI. The paint match and finish is perfect thanks to Autometric’s fantastic attention to detail.
• Windshield was replaced one time with original OEM glass (Saint-Gobain Sekurit) and plastic A-pillars replaced as part of repair.
The car is located in Bloomfield Hills, MI. It will be stored in my garage for the winter when the first snow flake hits the ground. Test drives are available as long as the roads are clear and dry. It’s certainly available to ship via transport at any time.
