World Championship 50

My new ride. Picked it up Friday. World Championship 50 with only 15,000 miles. Love this car and will have it forever.

I've only seen one WC50 in person - you have a beautiful car. Nbr 400 is cool, too.

I like the old MINI marketing stuff on the wall of the garage. I have a lot of that.

15k when he bought it, like to know if he has been enjoying it not just looking at it.

I now have 16,200 on the car. I drove it 1,200 miles since May when I bought it. Number 400 is the lowest numbered WC50 in the US. I recently had the car verified by MINI USA as well. There are now 49 in the US as number 443 was totaled. I do enjoy driving it very much, but, I primarily want to maintain it as a very low mileage keeper and show car. I had it at Watkins Glen International this year for The Vintage Gran Prix and it will be there in April for Opening Day. And, I like the older MINI point of sale, marketing material. Thank you for your interest and appreciation of the car.

I heard and read something about the Mayfair with supposedly upgraded trim. Is it mostly the same thing?

Only 50 shipped here. Most would have no idea what the car is but there are those that do.

What is the difference between a regular 2010 JCW other than the badge? Is it some kind of stripped GP2 with the oversized big front brake set up?

I assume that most were right hand drive...... right?

There were originally 250 of these made specifically for Europe. Then another 250 were made due to popularity. MINI released only 50 to the US. This car has every MINI option on it. Everything is carbon fiber. Connaught green is only on this car. The stripes have John Micheal Cooper's signature on it. There is special John Cooper badging inside as well. Of course the scuttle badge is numbered as well. This is the least produced and rarest MINI made according to MINI. The color and options combined make it a beautiful car. Can these options be added to a regular JCW? Yes. But, they are not WC50's specifically made to celebrate a racing championship 50 years ago. It's fun to have and show - especially to MINI enthusiasts. Thanks for everyone's interest.

Yes, very rare and that color was exclusive. I have only seen maybe 4 in person and I have been to a lot of MINI rallies since 2005+

Another interesting fact about WC50's MINI's is that they were hand built.

LOL..... Really? I don't thing so.

No Mini are hand built other than prototypes. I would not consider installing distinctive badging and trim bits as hand built when everything else is coming from the parts bin on the production line.

Thank you Whine not Walnuts for posting an account as to how these were built. Dube53, please also refer to Motoring File and search WC50. There are two articles that state that these are "hand built". Pretty nice as to the exclusivity and value of these cars.

The work was performed at the John Cooper Works facility. It could something similar to RUF and Porsche except BMW owns JCW.

There is no way they have been hand built but they may have left the Oxford factory plant without some trim work done.

Where was the final assembly on record?

Even Shelby American doesn't hand build Mustangs at their factory in Vegas....... but they are praised as LE for added content and performance perks.

I bought a WC50 new in 2010 and sold it a year after. They are not hand built, no idea why it was stated that way.
