Headlight cover

2004 MC40. I would like to know if anyone has replaced a headlight cover and can that part be ordered separate from the entire headlight assembly?
Am I going to haveto take the whole light assembly off the car, or can i just heat up the chrome trim and reassemble?

No separate part from MINI for those, most people just replace them with these:

Its the 2005+ design factory projector style.

Other than that you would bake the headlights to separate them and then polish out the lens.

My cover was hit by a deer and so everything is fine. My cover never needed polishing which I appreciated over my G35 which needed polishing 2 or 3 times/yr.
Not interested in any thing but stock Xenons.

If you want to keep it oem xenon 2004 style then i would just polish them out. Its helps, but it does not get the inside clean and you will still see a little yellowing. Otherwise you have to get new.

I am looking for a headlight cover not because it needs polishing, but because it got cracked by hitting a deer.
