? re: dipstick tube o-ring

I am installing a new dipstick tube o-ring (p/n 11437513891). However, I am unsure as to which of two recesses at the end of the tube the o-ring should be placed. Did a search but found no description or picture. TIA.

The dipstick o-ring seals the tube to the block. For the o-ring, 11-43-7-513-891 is #11 on the diagram below. Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

It does not help. The crankcase end of the dipstick tube has several circular recesses. My question is, into which recess does the o-ring go?

At the end of the dipstick guide tube it should go on the very last indented area, closest to the attachment point to the block. Not my image, but hopefully it will help give you a visual. Review the white arrow pointing to the location of the o-ring:

I'm sorry but it still isn't clear. Does it go into the recess that is closest to the opening, or closest to the attachment point?

It goes into the recess that is closest to the end that attaches to the block. You see the bracket with the 2 holes near the white arrow? It goes into the recess that is furthest away from that bracket.

Just figured out my problem. The o-ring I had been sent (and which did not fit at the bottom of the dipstick tube where it enters the crankcase) was for the top of the dipstick, where it enters the tube. Different size.

Just clean everything up really well and use some black RTV, it'll seal better and longer than another O-ring that is going to leak again in a couple years.
