My 2016, drivers side lettering, for the John Cooper Works emblem, the black in the lettering has peeled off the C o o. It was like that, from new (saw it 7 days after picking up vehicle, while I was waxing).
No biggie, but I did notify the dealer. I believe there is some kind of grace period, that if you exceed it, it will be too late. 12 months, no?
I checked mine out after work last night and sure enough, the drivers' side "S" is almost gone while the passenger side is intact. That said, are we sure it's a decal and not just lousy paint? For reference, I park against a wall which means my drivers side gets hit with sun while the passenger side does not. The edges of the "S" are mostly in tact but the center is gone (see picture)
IT IS COMPLETELY COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!!! Per a poor finish from the factory, along with the black band that your license plate attaches too. They both fade and are covered under warranty! I just had mine replaced last week

Are you referring the the piano black "bumper" on the front end? I had to fight tooth and nail to get that replaced. The first dealer refused to even investigate with corporate (I'm looking at you, MINI of Chicago) but the second dealer pushed to get it covered (Bill Jacobs MINI). In any event, do you have any warranty campaign information on either of the two repairs? It would make it easier for people to reference the campaign when visiting the dealer.
Yeah that is the one, and yes it is completely covered. If they were giving you a difficult time than the are just misinformed and have not learned of this yet. I'll see if I can come up with some literature for you.
