While this is the first year I've heard of this, I understand they've done this a few years in a row and last year got 100 MINIs on the track. The only count I've heard for this year is that the after party already has 300 people attending (though that's people not cars).
In summary, three Western NY MINI clubs come together and caravan down to Watkins Glen where $25 cash gets you 3 paced laps with the money going to charity. An after party is sponsored by Towne MINI. Clearly this isn't going to be a race and I suspect the speed will be highway at most, but I think it'll be fun.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned it here before. Am I the only member of this forum who is attending? I have a love/hate relationship with my MINI but figure I can put the hate part aside for a day and enjoy 100+ MINIs caravaning for 2 hours and taking a few laps on a world class race track.
Completely forgot about this meeting. Damn. Originally had work training scheduled for yesterday so put this out of my mind. Training canceled last minute and I didn't remember this gathering. Looks like a great turn out. It'll have to be next time. Good stuff, great day for driving.
I was there! There were 206 MINI's motoring the track together. Then dinner at the historic Seneca Lodge. Where past F1 drivers met after the US Grand Prix! Sponsored by Towne MINI of Buffalo and MINI of Rochester. Great weather and a great day for everyone.
