It might be cheaper and easier to find the transmission fluid at a Toyota dealer since MINI prices are usually high and they claim it's lifetime, so they probably dont keep any auto trans fluid in stock. Under tower is probably better on paper, but I think the top plates also work, are easier to install, and won't change the height of the front end. I went with VIP plates and the optional strut bar attachment, but the ECS and CravenSpeed will work just as well if you only want plates.
Don't forget a new belt and colder plugs. The 17% should be fine if it's not too hot in your area and you can get 93 octane. If not, 15% might be safer but since an automatic doesn't rev as high, 17% might still be ok.
Other than that, you might want to change your passenger motor mount since you'll have it loose for the pulley and they're known to fail. It wasn't fun cleaning up the hydraulic fluid from the engine compartment when it went.

+ 1 that great :
Yes, that dog pic. Bulldogs and MINI go together. Its there mascot.
On the strut tower plates we have the ECS and M7 ones. Running the ECS right now, on 261K+ miles. Still good.
I can vouch for the ECS plates, and I hardly think an 1/8th of an inch from the under plates is even going to be noticeable in ride height. I have both under and top plates on mine. Little extra insurance lol.
