Window Issue
When I had my wife's CM in last Tues to replace the thermostat, I inquired about any software updates for the windows knowing others had issues with theirs. The service manager said that she hadn't heard of any at this time. I was going to have them update if they had it since I was in even though we haven't had any issues.
I am seeing the window issue on both front windows, with either or both fobs in the car, and totally at random. Sometimes the windows stop at about 2" and other times there is only 1/4" showing. I have never seen the windows go all they way down with no glass showing. The dealer says this is a known issue but no fix yet. Odd one, but I am sure it will sort out. We really love the ALL4 after two weeks.
For ALL watching this thread.
for the cooper, clubman and verts there are two solutions that work for this.
1. Easy window position reset.
a. Hold window switch in the down position and hold for 10 seconds after the window has stopped
b. Hold window switch in the up position and hold for 10 seconds after the window has stopped
c. Repeat a
Window limit switches should be reset.
for 07+ coopers, 08+ clubman, and 09+ vert if that has not worked then the car needs reprogramming.
Window issues have been a problem since the 2nd gen cars came out with reports of them not staying up or not staying down.
So try the first easy thing and try the window "easy window reset procedure"
Let us know if this has worked.

Has anyone who is having the issue on a RANDOM basis tried this reset procedure? I have not tried this yet since resetting the limits would not seem to address a random problem but perhaps I should give it a try. My windows (both fronts) sometimes stop about 1.5" inches from the bottom, and sometimes not.
My other question is how far do the front windows go down when they are working properly? Mine never go completely down, but instead I have about 0.25" of glass showing even when the windows seem to go fully down. I have seen some comments on the forum to suggest that the windows might go down further.

Well, mine had fixed themselves for a few weeks, but today there is a bit of a resurgence in bad behavior from my passenger window. This time it sticks up about 2 inches. Driver side is normal (.25 inch up)...if that is even normal.
I contacted my local MINI service rep and they still don't have the right software for the R60. WOW.
I am going to try the fix listed above in just a little while and will report my findings. Thanks in advance......I hope it works.

My drivers side stuck up about an inch and a half, pass side about an inch when fully down. With the windows down I firmly but gently pushed down on the windows with the palms of me hands till they were all the way down. The windows now have been going down fully ever since.
Probably not the factory recommended way of doing it but it worked for me.

I'm joining the ranks... My front windows keep misbehaving as well... nothing consistent. But a few times so far they are 1" above the window sill... I am grateful that they actually close all the way, it'd be much worse the other way round... Started him up yesterday and they went all the way down.. so strange.. I'm sure they'll get a fix soon... I just want to get all the new out of him before I have to take him in for any type of service.
Keep us posted if an official fix is discovered!

Has anyone heard of a fix for the windows yet. Just the passenger side stays up an inch or so. I have tried all the resetting options mentioned. My MA still says there is no bulletin.
Thanks,
Bill

Mine did it once (driver's side). I put the FOB in, restarted, and it hasn't come back since.
It was hot today and had a car full of co-workers when the guy behind me lowered his window it would not go back up at all. It took me about 5 times of shutting the car off, turning it back on and having the window creep up very slowly to get it up except maybe an inch. I had window problems with my clubman and it was a computer problem fixed at the dealership. I've only had the car for a week and a half and will take it to the dealership on Thursday.
Add us to the list of malfunctioning CM windows also. My CM started misbehaving today (driver's side only). I will try the easy reset and see if it works. It has not done this when I drive, only for my husband. If the reset doesn't work, I will just blame him for the problem, right? We took delivery 5/27 from Flow Mini, NC.
My mini finally got the window fix with a software update at the dealer a few weeks ago. Now the windows finally work properly and go down the entire way, much lower than before. The software upgrade was for the whole computer system so the connected system was reset as part of the upgrade so write down your presets if you have them.
Just got mine back today and they did a reprogram of the control unit that took care of this problem on my driver side window. Also supposedly took
care of the stumble when accelerating hard issue that many have reported.
Maybe they found the bug that was causing most of these to do this. They did say there was a TSB out, but I am not sure if it is for this specifically.

I have just a little over 4,000miles on my Countryman, never had any issues with the windows until today. Driver window will only go down 1 inch at a time, you have to release pressure on the toggle and then press again and it goes down another inch. Continue process until window down and must do the same to get it to go back up. Scared to put it down incase it won't go back up. (Weather has been rainy) It only seems to be the driver's window. Tried the reset as described but didn't work, tried using the other fob didn't work. Made an appt at the dealer's for Mon. to check it out. Hope it's an easy fix. Bummer to have to take it in for repair (an hour away) when it only has 4,000 miles on it!
I don't know if this is window related, but I recieved a yellow display on the information console showing a front window shape. I can't find any reference to a window shaped error message in the owners manual. After a few minutes, the window message went away. Any ideas on what this means??

I've seen a few people fix the window issue by simply causing the window to anti trap. Once it anti traps it will relearn the true full down position. So, here's what you do, press the window toggle 'up' and let the window start auto-upping. about 1/2 way up, give it a firm little smack, right on the top ridge of the glass, so that it will think that your arm, head, leg, torso, whatever is gonna get caught in the glass. The anti trap software will automatically drop the window to full down position. At that point it should be good to go. You might want to do the full down, then full up and hold reinitialization after that, just to be safe.
Took Sadie in to have the window checked out. 2 1/2 hours later reprograming did not take care of the problem and it was decieded she needs a new motor. So drive home with a loaner waiting for the part to come in. Hour trip each way, bummer!!
Zaftig is in for his second window go-round. Supposedly they replaced the motor (this time) and reprogramed. Picking him up tomorrow - we'll see how it goes.
Sealy - Who hopes he gets a survey for service

The anti-trap fix worked great for me. I held the button many times and the window still didn't go all the way down.
Pushed auto up and bopped the window down hard with my hand and it went right on down ALL THE WAY and behaved nice after that. Car is narrow enough so you can bop the other side as well.
