Compact spare

I'm thinking I'd like to have something in the car in case I ever have a flat. Never had one in my 50 years of driving (other than off-roading), but like to plan ahead. I see a 4-100 lug pattern is what the Mini takes, but what offset do I look for in a wheel? Are their common generic cars (Ford, Chev, Honda) that have the same offset? Thanks.

i heard Civic once.... ill let someone verify... also looked up a Corolla as 4x100...5X offset, which seems doable (except the small rims they have usually)...i was going to try my mini rims on my fiances Corolla lol

Thanks. I found a Focus wheel which is 4-100 with 5.35 backspacing, but don't want to get it until I'm sure it will fit. I'll keep watching here for another response.

From what I can find it appears that the Mini has an H offset, 4x100 bolt pattern, 56.15mm hubsnout, 76.00mm wheelbore and the spare tire size is 115/70/R15. Bolt size is 12mm up to I believe June or July 06 builds then it may be 14mm. I personally would measure the bolt. The 95-98 Jetta, 82-89 Honda Accord and 2001-02 Civic are said to have the same dimensions on their donut spares. If you search "wheel bolt pattern" you may be able to find other models that match. Salvage yards sell them for a fraction of the OEM or aftermarket Mini sources. When we rid our MCS of runflats we will be headed in that direction. Good luck

I had great success in the junkyard with a 2001 KIA SEPHIA 15" donut. Perfect center bore, bolt pattern, and tire size ( 115/70 R15 ). Only paid $20! It doesn't clear the front brakes though Also, pick up 4 VW wheel bolts as the Mini ones were a hair too long for the KIA spare.

Wanted to confirm once again that the Cobalt 15 inch spare fits perfectly. Clears the rear brake on the MCS, don't think it clears the front but either way you should not be using a donut spare on the front. Just got mine in today and did a fit check and couldn't be happier.
Got mine for $40-some shipped from this vendor on eBay:

200 bucks seems a little steep, is that what I should expect to pay? I thought I had seen someone saying they paid about $45.

Mini does sell the spare, but for a couple hundred bucks. The one we're talking about for $45 is the Chevy Cobalt spare.

Not to split hairs here, but the Cobalt spare looks to have better threads/pattern than the tire in the thread linked.

Got my Cobalt spare from that seller $47.97 shipped. He had several then, so I picked the 2009 Cobalt, newest he had at the time. Came fast, tire brand new never used. Just fit it up to the rear of my 2010 MCS - fit and cleared fine.

Also just bought a set of these - VERY handy to use when mounting wheels:

Maybe a silly question but if I have 17" rims/tires and the Cobalt rim/tire the guy on eBay is selling are 15"s, is that OK since you are using it on the rear?

For minimal effort and only a couple of $$, I made the stud wheel hanger.
Purchased a long enough bolt at Lowe’s/Home Depot, cut off the head, and sanded the place where I cut to smooth out the part.

Success! I found a 1994-2002 Mitsubishi Mirage 15" spare that I confirmed to fit the rear wheels....junkyard, $7, cant beat that!!!! Tight squeeze into the spare wheel well on my Clubman though.
