Garmin Nuvi MINI Mount

Has anyone found the Garmin Nuvi Mini mount described below that mounts to the left of the tachometer? I would like to buy the mount separately.

"The mount that comes with the MINI version is a specific design that integrates into the MINI’s dash to the left of the tachometer. If installed correctly, it can also provide power."

I had a Nuvi 350 when I got my MCS. I ordered the Mini mount from Morristown Mini. They have an eBay store but do not list all of the parts that they sell. Contact them by email or phone and they can provide you the part number and price. You can install it yourself but is a bit confusing as the included instructions are very vague.

How much was the official mount from Morristown (and how much was the shipping)?

I've got the mount. I bought it for my R52 and didn't realize it was only for the R56. DOH! PM if interested.

So, what's the part number and how much does it cost?

I am thinking of buying the mount from MorristownMini and get it installed by the local dealer.

Info is on here somewhere. Do a search. Also, don't automatically expect your dealer to install the part if you buy it somewhere else. I'm in the middle of huge argument with the service manager at my dealership right now about this exact part.

Have you asked them if they like money (and mentioned that you're planning on giving them some if they'll install the bloody part)?

Apparently backing up what one of his employees promised and getting $110/hour revenue is less important to the service manager than following his policy AND pissing off one of their best (bought 3 MINIs) and most vocal (founder of the St. Louis MINI Club) customers instead of get $110/hour revenue while backing up what one of his employees promised.

STLMINI-Just a thought, but could you talk to that employee who promised something (I'm guessing that an install would be possible) about perhaps installing it as a side job?

I will be talking to him again. There's no question about that. But since he's only a service advisor he's not going to do the work.

I could do this myself, but when I realized there was wiring involved, I decided to have it done by the dealership. I've found an independent mechanic who used to be a MINI/BMW mechanic who will do it.

You can find more about purchasing and installing the official mounting kit here: http://www.motoringfile.com/2007/06/...tall-retrofit/

The official document doesn't seem to list the correct part numbers or the wiring instructions. One of the posters found the diagram on this page helpful: http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-i...on-unit-6.html

I am still planning to ask the dealership if they can order and install the official mount for me.

Mini Navigation Bracket Part Number

According to my installation documents the part number for the Mini Navigation portable is 65900429399. This is the number for the US model let me know if this helps out. You MA service staff can also print out a PDF installation instruction document. I had mine installed and purchased the Nuvi 350 from a local shop, I installed the Nuvi and saved allot of money over the dealer cost.

This is how the Garmin Nuvi with the bracket installed on the left side of the steering wheel looks.

The part number you mention is for the kit (GPS device + mount). I ordered the mount from MorristownMINI (Part #065900428283) and waiting for the delivery. They are going to ship the instructions along with the part.

How difficult is it follow the instructions and install the bracket/mount? I have never done anything like this before and I am a total newbie when it comes to taking apart a dashboard or any other car apart.

I wish you had put together a step-by-step install instructions with pictures?

You did a good job with the install

I have the instructions but they are in German. The Mini service rep here in Germany where I am stationed gave them to me. The same version should be available from Mini US service rep. The rep here printed the document directly from the Mini parts program.

Installation Instructions

Installation instructions are attached.

It appears to be a simple task. I am a newbie and scared to experiment.

Doesn't look that simple to this newb. Depending on how much Morristown charges, might be better to get it installed there.

I went to local MINI dealer (HendrickMINI, Charlotte) yesterday and got it installed. They charged $95 and gave bath to my car in addition. I am very happy with the job.
