Fun and Performance at Monterey!
Hey all......
We just completed Day 1 for the Monterey Historics event. We met some really cool people (many of the new GP owners) over just a few hours of operation.
If you're coming up, make sure to stop by the M7 booth right next to turn 2 (the Andretti Hairpin) and you can see our great products and meet the SoCal crew.
We have a fabulous new show car that feature the AGS, the APD, and our much sought after DFIC. MAKE SURE to stop by to, at the very least, see this amazing vehicle! Inside and out, this is one that will definitely catch and keep your attention (we saw people coming back more than twice in a day!).
Of course we have deals and pre-orders going... but we also have
the M62 Supercharger
on display. Sign our sign-up sheet at the show to receive e-mail alerts about this awesome supercharger and its release.
And if you're reading this now and you're in Monterey... come to the Baja Cantina tonight to talk shop and throw a few back (designated drivers are a must! cops are EVERYWHERE in this city of race cars
)

While the day was all about the MINI for a lot of folks, the highlight for me was seeing and hearing a Toyota F1 car screaming at 19,000 RPMs into the Andretti hairpin, and then jumping on the brakes, with traction control popping...
Ironically, it is Mario Andretti who holds the track record, but that was beat today with 1:06 something... but since it was not a race, it is not official. For Laguna, a fast MINI (think Webb or Nuzzo) does a lap in the 1:43 - 1:45 range...
Heading-back tomorrow!
EDIT - correction, after speaking with Peter, the rapid and repetitive sound upon braking is the traction control, not the ABS.

Ya, I wish I was there today, but I'm feeling ill, and will not... Really bummed about that

To the right of the M7 tent was Dinan. Even with a new M5 with them, as well as a MINI, it was neat to see more folks gravitating around M7!
I was amazed how many people pointed to Bill's car and simply said "how much?". Fielding a few questions during busy times, I asked for what exactly? I learned that quite a few people want to have complete cars built for them, and I mean everying done so they don't lift a finger. There was some big money out there, that's for sure. Suffice it to say, I directed that person directly to Peter...
The DFIC was a hit! When some would ask what does the stock IC configuration look like again, we'd have them turn around and look at the Dinan MCS (about 15-20 feet away). The response was usually on the order of oh, now this makes a ton of sense!
Peter can give the details on the seats upon his return. They were popular. I believe the color is called tiger's eye. The alcantera lined dash and ceiling is really cool, and also drew much attention, as did the CF steering wheel...
I've had a fair number of folks ask for a sound clip of my exhaust system, but have never been able to accomdate that request. As soon as I parked in the corral yesterday, a couple of guys asked me questions about it, and wanted for me to re-start my car so they could record the audio (and I suppose video) on their cell phone. So, it's out there somewhere! If they are on NAM, I hope they will contact me...
A safe trip home to M7, and thanks for the invite! I'm truly sorry I can't join you guys today.
PARTSMAN, if you have questions, I say fire away. I certainly might not be able to address them, but between Peter, DDM, and Bob, and even others, I'm sure you can get some answers.

1) Is that the M45 nose bolted to the M62 in the pic?
2) The black plate in between the SC inlet and the intake tube, looks custom, what are the three ports for?
With regard to #1, yes that is the M45 nose. This is a hybrid between the two...
#2, as I understand it, that plate is custom fabricated, however, I do not know what the 3 ports are for...

Yes, that is correct, for fitment reasons.
I'm sure Dave can provide more detail, in time...
Sucks sitting-up in bed at not in Monterey on this gorgeous Sunday!!!
It was nice seeing Matt (Dr O) and his two special girls - wife Cheryl and daughter Alison who I believe is coming-up on 2 years of age. Both like cars, which is really cool. Alison is just fascinated by the cars going around the track, and is not scared of the noise. Matt was carrying her virtually everywhere he went. I joked with him that his left arm would soon become much larger than his right, non-utilized one...
I'll make sure to bring more cash next time... A hot dog for 6 or 8 bucks is a joke. I suppose calling it "Le Dog" makes that ok though

."Le Dog" isn't your average hot dog Tony. It's French cuisine. Big bucks.
