Solo BFG R1 is back?
BFG R1 is back?
I was reading the latest issue of GRM and they mentioned that BFG is bringing the R1 R-Comp tire back this year in a bunch of sizes. Supposedly two 18" sizes are already out and 15 or so more sizes are coming.
Can anyone comment on the sizes/specs for the upcoming R1? How sticky are they? Are they more of a RA-1 type of tire, longer wear for track use? Any info would be good. Thanks.

Can't comment on them since never used them myself. but i did go to BFG's site since reading your post and did find them only in the 18" .. there was no mention that i could find of other possable sizes. But i will be keeping an eye out since I like being different at events. aka not runnig the same tires as everyone else. (V710 and A6)

According to GRM, 15 more sizes will be available starting in April 2007 (GRM February 2007 Issue on page 112). My guess is that that will include a good 15" size for the Mini, almost certainly a 205/50/15, and a 16" for you GS/HS guys. I would love to see a 225/45/15 too.
GRM also mentioned that the tires looked very good on paper and from some of the reading I have done, back in the day, the R1 was a very strong player in the track/autox world. So I am very excited for April, more choice is always better
