Source for inexpensive 16x6.5 wheels?

Webb Motorsports says that the AK Monza's in 16x6.5" size are no longer available. SSR Comp's are too expensive for me at the moment. Anyone know of a source for lighter than stock, GS legal, 16x6.5" wheels?

Keep an eye out on the MINI and Miata boards for 14.5 lb Enkei RPO-1's. I picked up a set a few years ago (16x6.5 45mm offset), and just traded them for some wider Kosei K1's (I needed the extra width, he needed stock class sizing). Other than that, the not-TOO-heavy stock Cooper S X-Lites may be your best bet for relatively lightness and low price. It looks like the next step up for new wheels would be the SSR Comps for $$$.

Tirerack lists a 16x6.5 "sport edition fox 3" in a 4x100 for $124. I don't know what the offset is. it is 20lbs, though.

They also list a trmotorsport R2 in 16x6.5 in a 4x100 for $119. Again it is 20lbs and I don't see the offset listed.
Good luck finding something!

It looks like Aktires will have them again... supposedly thay have a shipment of wheels trying to get through customs...

http://aktiresusa.com/_packages.php

Aktires is the company that originally imported the NZO wheels, Mike Filippello being the primary contact. Mike left AK and opened NZO and continued to sell the wheels. Now it looks like AK may be getting back into these wheels.

The stock x-lites are about 2lbs less per wheel and a lot cheaper. I sold a set of 4 with no tires for 275

If you want SSRs you better hurry; they've gone out of business.

Check this list out (many of the same options as mentioned)

http://omor.com/mini/wheels.php

So far the X-lytes are the price leader with a reasonable weight in that size.

Thanks, again, Minihune. Such an informative link. I assume the weights given are for wheels and tires together. I had no idea the R90s weigh almost as much as the S Lites. And my favorite R-83s have a weight penalty over my least favorite R84s. Teaches me that I should not be choosing wheels for appearance alone.

Has anyone tried machining a set of o.e. miata 16" wheels to a legal offset? They're significantly lighter than the X-lites and available for about the same amount of money. Just not sure if the spokes will clear the MINI's brake calipers after machining 2-4 mm off the mounting face.

I know a lot of machinists, and not a one will do this to a wheel. They usually say "blah blah blah catastrophic failure blah blah blah, so no way." But if you can find a guy to do it, let me know, because I'd be interested in having a few mm shaved off the mounting surfaces of some BMW wheels I have.

Good news, at least for those of you willing to dig ~$1200 deep into your pockets for a set of wheels. SSR's assets have been bought by Tanabe. SSR wheels will be back in production soon.

Monza wheels at nzowheels.com

I was able to get some light Monza rims at www.nzowheels.com/monza.html

Reasonable price ($145) and weight. With Azenis tires mounted the wheel/tire combination is at 33lbs.

Is $275 the standard going rate for these? Everyone that I have found seems to be asking $450.

What's reasonable for these wheels?

NZO has only 2 Monza wheels left. I called them today and they are sold out and don't expect any wheels in until the end of this month or beginning of next month at best.

There will be another 16x6.5 wheel on the market soon. Rota will have a 16x6.5 4x100 ET45 Centerbore 56.1 Slipstream available in 2-3 months. Price should be in the $125 dollar range each. Weight should be slightly less than the 13.5 lbs I have seen claimed for the 16x7 Slipstream.

I'll be looking to buy a set of x-lites before the end of June but I won't pay $450 for them. Once the NZO's and the Rota's appear on our shores the cost of a set of x-lites will probably drop to $200.

I gave up on aftermarket 16x6.5's, went with OEM x-lites.

With as many Mini's out there autocrossing, you think that someone would make a wheel for us.. :-(

Who did you speak with at NZO? I called them earlier this week and I was not impressed with the person I spoke with at all. They seemed like they were having a conversation with someone else while talking to me. At one point the guy asked me to hold on, I presumed it was so that he could check on something but he picked back up in a minute and was confused that I was still waiting.

I had heard from someone at Webb that there was a legal battle going on over who will have the rights to import these wheels (AK Tire or NZO) and that it would likely drag on for another 2-3 months. Does anyone have any more information than this?

Do you have any idea what vendor/vendors is/are behind this?
