Power is going to be an issue. Number one is to deactivate the DSC. It kills power real good.
The header can't be replaced since you can't retain the OEM cat and the aftermarket headers don't have CARB approval. Not to mention, the aftermarket headers with the stock cat would have almost no power gain for $750 and a lot of cutting and welding.
A cat-back exhaust is worthwhile if only for the weight loss. Gains are 5-8 hp. Losses are 10-25 lbs. Prices are $350-$750. I'm going for under $500, RSpeed or Borla.
The intake is going to be a chopped Ractive intake because I got it really cheap. The increase from intakes range from 2-5 hp.
The AmD OneClick claims to provide 10 hp for $450. Definitely the best hp/dollar if their real hp. There have been a few personal affidaveds that give the impession that it's true, plus the dyno charts.
So, 17-23 hp gain can be had. When you consider that the difference is only 5 hp, it doesn't make sense to spend tons money to possibly get that 5 hp.
I think the biggest thing (next to tires and suspension) will be removing the 35lb battery from about the left front and installing the 15lb Odyssey PC-680 in the right rear. That is about a 4% decrease over the left front. I think that'll be significant. The 680 is less than 3.25" thick and should be mountable in the stock cd-changer location.
The cool thing about STS is that you can reverse everything and always go back to Stock.
