I sent a set of pads out to Carbotech and they will put whatever compound friction surface you want on them. They were trying to get someone to source the backing plate. You may want to check with them. Several people here on NAM have sent JCW used pads to them.

At this point, there are no endurance race pads for the JCW brakes. This could be an option in the future when and if pads become available.
The JCW brakes are better . . . probably still not good enough though . . . and they seem to fit within the rules.
, , , but then, I'm probably spoiled with brakes. I have the huge StopTech brakes on my Spec Mini and they are really great.
And to answer ' TheBlackBrian ' . . . we have all the ducting that the GA rules allow, which unfortunately, is probably not enough.

There's a lot of misconceptions out there about the stock brakes. I kept them on purpose on our car to prove that point, even when we run enduros. The stock brakes may not be equivalent to StopTechs but they are perfectly fine with some very fine tuning.
Solutions are only a phone call away. Give me a call if you want to further discuss it. You have my number.
N.B: Trois-Rivieres is THE track where you will really test the brakes, if you guys make it up here.

However, we are not overly concerned with them. The car has lost 300+ lbs and this alone will improve the braking performance tremendously.
We looked at the JWC brakes and decided it was not worth the expense. The parts are hard to get . . . back ordered to Europe . . . are marginally larger than stock . . . and NO ENDURO race pads. We spoke with Hawk, among others about the pad situation and there is nothing forthcoming.
To sum it up . . . we agree with 'J Propane'. The stock brakes will do just fine. I would love to have the Stoptechs or similar, but that is not going to happen.
Some of the tracks will require brake preservation (evidently, 3 Rivers will be one of them!, thanks or the tip) . . . but that's racing. We will make the best of what we have.
We think we have a pretty good pad setup and an overall brake plan. We will see how it goes.
Still waiting on the shocks . . .
pretty frustrating.Randy

Thanks for the offer of support. We will take youi up on it!

Shocks
Grand Am kind of screwed everyone with the Shock deal they did with Koni. It's not that the deal is so bad, it's the lack of warning. It caught everyone by surprise. We had a shock plan in place when the announcement came. We then had to start back at zero. The rules will require Koni shocks in the near future so any development and expense on other brands will be wasted money.
There is a 'mad dash' for Koni shocks to cash in on the extra purse money and they are having some supply issues.
We should have shocks by Monday.

107 entries for Daytona Koni Challenge ! !
http://www.grand-am.com/Events/Entry...sp?EventID=191
This will be a combined race with a split start. 107 cars is a lot . . . even for a track as big a s Daytona.
61 GS cars . . . better make sure the mirrors are cleaned and properly aimed . . . !!!
46 ST cars . . . no surprise entries but lots of BMW's this year
The RSR Motorsports Mini is # 197 . . .
No entry listed for Tony Nuzzo so the RSR car will be the only Mini Cooper.

Please share your mods, and/or provide photos of your cars, if you can. Would love to see what you guys did with them. Curious to see what you are doing for intercooling. Nuzzo had a custom front mount. It seems that you have the stock scoop (nevermind, I see now that this is not your GrandAm MINI)...
Pictures
I don't have any recents pictures, but here is a picture of the roll cage and seat fitment. This was about 6 weeks ago . . . Ignore the steering column. we were using the stock setup to align the wheel to the seat.
Note the new 'cage rules' . . . looks like a NASCAR cage.
I'll get some more recent pictures posted soon.

Without driver, I'm guessing, and how much fuel?
Heck, if they can or are allowed to go down to 2,300, I'm sure they can find a way to lose more... Nuzzo didn't have headlights, and if these cars do, I suppose that could be another option to drop some weight...

No headlights. We think we will get to 2300. We have taken every step to save weight during the build. Even stripping the red factory paint in the interior before repainting the interior 'racer grey'.
I guess we will know pretty soon. The shocks are supposed show up on Monday and we can finish putting the suspension on.
Right down to the wire . . .
