Buying in Denver
#1
Hi everyone! So....I'm going car shopping this weekend. I feel somehow obligated to 'shop around', but my heart is with a Mini. I doubt I'll get the S, and was wondering if anyone had been down to RS's lately. What kind of inventory is on the lot? Just in case I'm not feeling patient ! Any advice for a hopeful first time buyer? Thanks!

I'm not sure what the wait is there for an S currently, but if you don't want to wait long, you could also consider buying out of state. Many of us have done that. A lot of dealers can get cars much quicker. Also, you can either get a little trip out of the deal by picking it up, OR you can get it shipped direct to you for ~$800.
There is no reason to pay over MSRP.

I'm in the Denver area as well. Stop by RS and see what they have. I suspect that the waiting list is still fairly long...unfortunately. If your heart is with the MINI be sure to figure out what you want on your Cooper or Cooper S and give MINI of the Hamptons (Torr Marro) a call at 631-283-0888. They have both models in stock (at MSRP) and will arrange everything to have it shipped to you. Hope this helps!

>>If you don't want an S you might have luck at Schomp. They had a few available Coopers on the lot last week.
I was there last weekend and they had a couple S's on the lot for sale too. If you're flexible on the color and options (or just lucky), you find what you're looking for. Good luck. Have fun.

Hi there, I was in RS yesterday the 10th, getting my oil changed on my MCS, and they did have a couple of "S"s in stock, one was used w/low miles, wish i could remember the color combo for you. They have a couple on the inside show floor a dark silver S with bonnet stripes that had a stick on it. So I think you have a few to chose from if you get on it.
Bye the way, I on the way back home over the passes I gave a new BMW 325xi all he wanted on the way up floyd hill and eisenhower...he tried to shake me a couple times, but couldn't get rid of the MINI in his rearview. He finally gave up at 115mph and we took it easy after that, wonder what he was thinking??? what fun, good thing my wife wasn't in the car

Thanks so much for all of your advice everyone! I'm SO ready for my test drive tomorrow. I passed two MINIs (as well as the one on the 8th and Santa Fe billboard!) on my way to work this morning. Maybe its a sign : )
I checked out the New Vehicle Search on Schomp's website. While it's great to know they have 3 pages of vehicles on the lot, I couldn't really tell any details (colors, etc.) from the website. Guess I'll just have to be patient and wait 25 hours! The more research I do, the more I'm getting an idea of what I want (CR, Nav, Cold weather package, Premium Package). It might be too hard to compromise!

Thanks so much for the advice everyone! After test-driving the MINI, as well as 'subjectively' looking at some other vehicles, I'm now planning on putting in my order this week for a new MC. There were some decent cars on the lot, but since I tend to hold on to cars for a long time, I decided it would be best to go for exactly what I want.
So, I'm still deciding on a few options (xenon, tires, sport seats, fog lights, sport suspension), but a deposit sometime this week should give me July delivery! Woo-hoo! I'm planning on just paying MSRP, but wondering if anyone here was able to negotiate anything with RS?
Thanks

No. I was just curious. I haven't ever driven an S so am not familar with how much firmer the suspension is set up. Even with the base suspension and 15" tires my wife thinks it rides a little rough over poor roads. But then I think her passat is rough from the passenger seat. Guess it just depends on where you are sitting.
