"Competitive Events" voiding warranty
Read this in the manual, anyone know how BMW defines competitive events?
Would an autocross or two count?
How about track days??
How about after I buy all that cool stuff from Randy?
Just curious if anyone's had their warranty voided & if so for what?
There was also a line or two in there how when you bring your ride in for service
they will download your diagnostic profile from your car...
Does this mean voiding is possible if you overrev' before breakin is completed @ 1200 miles??

In my knoledge auto cross or track days woul not void yor W. If you remember a few months ago we receive an e-mail from MINI USA telling the mini owners to go and enjoy the cars in events...
Actually a competition event is such think as an official race... Were you be competing one on one with other cars. Autocross is defined as entusiast race or event. Track days are not even consider a race, remember many of us drive our minis much harder in the steets than others do it on the track.
Just enjoy the car, if you go an put a roll cage, halon fire extinguisher system, electricity cut off switch, safety gas tank, and all of those race items you probably get in trouble, but if you do something to the car and that wont affect your engine/transmition/electronics life you will be fine.
This is just my Knoledge if I'm wrong please correct me.

Subaru GIVES you a membership to the SCCA when you buy the car and then voids your warranty if you use it!? I've heard of a guy having his warranty voided by mitsu on his EVO when he took his car to the drag strip once. Seems the send reps to the track and they write down your plate number.
Anyways, havent heard of mini usa doing that but i have seen screenshots of a BMW diagnostic computer displaying what it called "racing instances" what that means, I dont know.
Lesson of the Day: Take your plates off at the track!?
