MINIs Under the Arches - MUTA 2007

MUTA- Mini's Under the Arches 2007 *****NOTE DATE CHANGE IN NEXT POST***
Well, it's a go, MUTA 07.

The date has been confirmed for....

Sept 27-30.

We have some great runs planned out as we were able to scout everything out last year during our Mock, so this should be a lot of fun and you'll get to see beautiful southern Utah. We're currently in the process of getting special hotel rates and since we'll be in Moab, we'll also have some special rates at one of the in-town campsites as well.

We have the following current runs planned out, and we'll have a possibility of an all day run, if there is interest. It will be a trip down to Lake Powell to hit the Ferry.

Run 1 - La Sal Mountain Loop - 3-4 hours

Run 2 - Colorado Riverway Scenic Byway - 1.5-2 hours

Run 3 - Dead Horse Point State Park - 2.5-3 hours

Run 4 - Arches National Park - 2 hours, possibly longer if you feel like short hikes to the actual Arch sites.

Run 5 - Island in the Sky - 3-4 hours

Run 6 - Needles Overlook - 3-4 hours

La Sal loop will be the most popular for the people who like the curves, but the others are breathtaking as well.

We will post as soon as we get the hotel rates so you can all start booking.

See the dedicated Forum in "events" right here in NAM...and you can now sign up in the MINI5280 Calendar here in NAM as well.

Ok folks, us Utah people are throwing MUTA (Minis Under the Arches) 07 in Moab. We had to change the original date from Sept and push it back to Oct. We were fighting for hotel rooms with much larger groups than us, so we lost. We've actually been getting more interest in our new date, however.

So the locked-in date is Oct 25-28

We have 6 total runs planned out, and we have the option of adding more runs if we get more people showing up.

Run 1 - La Sal Mountain Loop - 3-4 hours

Run 2 - Colorado Riverway Scenic Byway - 1.5-2 hours

Run 3 - Dead Horse Point State Park - 2.5-3 hours

Run 4 - Arches National Park - 2 hours, possibly longer if you feel like short hikes to the actual Arch sites.

Run 5 - Island in the Sky - 3-4 hours

Run 6 - Needles Overlook - 3-4 hours

These run-times are including stop times for sight seeing and pictures as well.

As for our MUTA hotel we have the Moab Holiday Inn Express booked up with a group rate.

1515 N HWY 191
Moab, UT 84532

(435) 259-1150

Group name: Mini's Under the Arches (make sure to say the whole phrase)

Rates are as follows and are per night,

$110.00 - Standard room (King or 2 queens)
$120.00 - Suite (King or 2 queens with Fridge and microwave)

This is not our official meeting place quite yet for our Group-and-Runs. We have a parking lot we may be able to use. Feel free to start booking elsewhere if you'd like, but this is where most of the Mini folk will be staying.

If you have any questions, email me at angus0033 at hotmail dot com

See you all there

Caravan #1 to MUTA leaves

at 6:30 am on Friday morning from west Denver. Meetup at the intersection of I-70 and Morrison Rd., on the NE corner. (Forget the name of the lot, but the NW corner is currently under construction). Things to bring:
  • Water or other beverage. Cooler with other beverages
  • Empty bladder. We will go as far as we can w/o stopping, to make time.
  • Full tank of gas. Projected stop: Fruita, on the far side of Grand Junction, about 4.5 hrs out.
  • GRS radio, tuned to channel 7-21 the International MINI channel
  • Your GPS device
  • Tunes
  • Reservations to hotel. See posts below.
  • Warm weather gear. Don't take chances.
  • Your National Parks card. Saves time and money.
  • Digital camera, extra batteries, extra card.
  • A well maintained MINI, ie tires, oil, fluids, etc.
  • Route is I-70 all the way, then left on Dinosaur Diamond Hwy, Route 128.
Please POST here if you are joining in or if you need other considerations.

Any questions? At that time, feel free to call me at 303-807-9483
