I am still concerned about the doors opening on a stock car. A roll cage/window net will not keep your arms and head from harms way. Ideas?

Don. You would have to see where the failure was first before you could really come up with a solution. Not sure we will ever know.

Arm Restraints are not allowed at DEs -- you must be able to stick you arm out the window. I was trying to address the door opening at The Ring and in Texas where it is reported to have happened more than once.

I also seem to recall Nuzzo having a door issue when he rolled. Glad that there was no apparent major injury. As tough as the MINI is, I'm happy that he took the necessary precautions to prepare for such an incident!

For DEs (Driver eds ?), this is overkill. Door latch kit:

The problem seems to lie with the chassis flexing, and ripping the door off the lock, so beefier lock. Obviously the cages weren't enough so I don't know if something like M7 understrut system would help reduce this tendency by increasing rigidity.

For as bad a crash as that was, the driver still walked away...

That says a lot about our small little cars. Show that to your big SUV-driving friend who thinks that we drive around in little death-traps. For as small as these cars are, they're really safe. Makes me feel good!

There was a lot of discussion about the video here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=77079

The driver's door opening at the end of the crash was not cool.

It's all the same wreck, just recorded from different camera angles.

Yeah, saw that before, but it's nice to see.

There were some comments about the door flying open though.

that's because they probably don't have doorlocks on a strip down race a mini, and i doubt they have the mini airbag/safety systems.

Too bad I came in late on this discussion. Video's seem to have been removed. Guess MINI got wind of the discussion.
