ALMS question

Anyone know what the glowing lights on the sides of the cars signify?

Notice the green light by the rear tire. I have noticed that they vary the number of lights lit during the race.

"...Take a look at every ALMS car in any given race,
and each is equipped with three lights attached to the side of the car,
just in front of the rear wheel.

One light lit denotes the class leader,
while two lit lights indicate the car that is second in that class.
All three lights lit indicate the third place car.

The lighting system works directly from the official timing and scoring system,
operating on telemetry sent from time and scoring computers that assures accurate and timely updates.

Different colored lights are used to differentiate the four classes.
LMP 900 cars are equipped with RED lights.
LMP 675 cars have BLUE lights.
GTS car lights are GREEN
and GT car lights are YELLOW."

Great race today. The Audi was awesome. The GT1 class between the vettes and the astin martins was good. The GT2 was also incredible. I was pulling for our local Infineon guys with Flying Lizards. 2nd and 4th was pretty successful. The Ferarri was good to see also.

Can't wait to see how the Audi does at LeMans

Who says you can't get performance from a diesel engine? This is the latest Audi race car (Lemans type) using a diesel engine.

The car will be able to complete 2 more laps per fuel stint than the R8 at
Le Mans (8+ miles per lap) and the r8 could already go at least one lap
futher than the competition.
Most of the technical questions are answered here:
