2008 MINI Works Challenge Car

For sale here in the states.
Just thought it was interesting. Not sure it's of any use here in the states besides collection.

Hey Greg,
Just happend to see that on eBay also, it is a cool car that could be used for track days or some racing. do you think it would fit in GTS-2 in Nasa? Not sure what the PTWR is. Certainly it should be heavier than our Minis.
At NPR, they have their own series that use bracket racing...
Still, 42,000 euros FOB Germany before shipping etc...could get pricey.

Yeah, that caught my attention as well. Then, motoringfile says the Challenge cars will be on sale in the US.

Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for the MINI Challenge Series here in USA after all. It would take a lot of behind the scenes work to make it happen, but maybe someone hasn't been sleeping very well. ?

worth watching.

I have heard of one guy who is racing his in California. He is over on 6speedonline.com and he is also a big Porsche guy. Really cool to see some made it over here.

64k buy it now seems a little steep.

I just realized this is the same car I talked about above. Didnt look at the pictures in detail but they are the same ones I saw over at 6speed.

It would most likely be classed as a PT-B car in NASA.

Power to weight is 11.198:1 which is PT-B; plus with the mods and front splitter, rear wing and rear diffuser plus all the JCW parts.

What class is your MINI? All those NASA classes confuse me.

Challenge Car looks cool... love the Air Jacks!

Can't wait to see it on the track.

Mine is a PT-C car. The cut off for PT-C is a 12:1 PTW ratio. PT-D is 14:1. PT-B is 10:1. Mods add points which can also upclass you.

The R53 MINI Cooper S starts off with a base class of PTE** (** = +14 pts modification); the R56 MINI Cooper S Works edition starts off as a PT-D* (* = +7 points). - So depending on what has been done to the car beyond the Works edition (rear wing is different, diffuser, etc.) it could be a PT-D, PT-C, or PT-B car.

I actually ran through the NASA classing and based on the information I found on the web and what I have seen on the car, it came out as a PT-B car, but once I put in the stated weight with driver from the web, it bumped it to PT-A. Given that I think the weight is higher for us; the car is showing as PT-B and I did not take points for the roll cage as I didn't inspect to see if it penetrated the front bulkhead or firewall or if it was bolted to the chassis.

Anyways, lap times will tell the tale! It will be great to see what this car can do on the tracks here in the U.S.!

The car is GORGEOUS! Very well done and fitted. The air jacks are very cool - the cage is very nice. The dead pedal is awesome, along with the quick release wheel. There was no expense spared on the car. The engine is sealed as is the turbo. This thing is going to be awesome to drive. I do hope they bring the series to the U.S. as I may have to get one!!
