6th PLACE FINISH FOR KENZIE AND 2ND PLACE FINISH FOR LAUZIERE AT MOSPORT
September 2, 2008
Montréal, Québec. Guest driver and veteran journalist Jim Kenzie, after only one practice session in the GE Nighthawk MINI Cooper S, managed to tour the Mosport circuit with a time that put him in a solid 7th position for the start of the first Castrol Canadian Touring car Series race on Saturday, in a field of 13 cars.
After a great start and a few battles, Kenzie brought the car home after the twenty minute race for a strong 6th place finish: “It was a thrill and an honour to be invited to drive the GE Nighthawk MINI Cooper S JCW in the Labour Day Castrol Touring Car Championship event at Mosport. Thanks to team owner Alain Lauzière for having enough faith in me to let me drive his cherished little baby! It is also a testament to how well-engineered, well-built and well-prepared the car is that I could step right into it for the first time in practice Saturday morning and not look like a complete idiot. I was nowhere near as quick as owner Lauzière, but I qualified mid-pack, passed one car at the start, and did manage to dice with a couple of the series front-runners for a few laps, which was great fun and very gratifying. As with my Targa Newfoundland MINI Cooper S JCW, the GE Nighthawk MINI race car is quick, very forgiving and tough. Nobody crashed, nobody died, so for me that's a great day at the race track! My thanks too to the GE Nighthawk crew, the Castrol Series organizers, and the track marshals, without whose hard work none of us would be out there”, stated Kenzie.
Lauzière started the Sunday race from the back of the field, as is required by series rules when a driver change occurs. After passing seven class competitors in the first two laps, the Original MINI Accessories Cooper S climbed back up to fifth position. “The strategy was simple; I didn’t care that it was a 40 minute race. All I wanted was to catch-up to the lead-pack as soon as I could. But I knew it would be difficult to go back to the front unless we caught a break” admitted Lauzière. And the break came on lap 14 in the form of a full-course yellow when a competitor went off in Corner 2 for a lengthy delay. The table was set for a mad-dash finish with only two laps remaining to the checkered flag. “We were lucky on the re-start as the two competitors in front of me were blocked by a slower Super Touring car”. I was able to pass them all and catch-up to the second place car. After drafting him up the Andretti straightaway, I stayed on the outside all the way through corner eight and had a better line coming through corner nine. We just beat him to the checkered flag to finish second”, mentioned Lauzière
The Octane Team would like to extend their sincere gratitude to GE Canada and their Nighthawk products for supporting them this weekend.

Thanks Jan.
I'd love to post the video but it looks like the file is corrupt. It's there (in size) It just gives error messages. Any video experts around that think they may have potential solutions?
