Went to the dealer yesterday (1-30-16) to place my order for a 2016 Paceman S to replace my '03 HT cooper S with 150k miles. Talking to the sales guy got it all picked out, had one question about boot stripes. He went to get the answer and came back with "They are not making Pacemans anymore" he was just as stunned as we were.
I know they eliminated the coupe and the roadster. But you can still build a paceman on the website. Seems like they should have alerted the dealer of the change.
Needless to say I am not a happy mini owner. Not really interested in the Countryman but would like to have all wheel drive.
Maybe production orders for the Gen 2 Paceman, Bet the Gen 3 Paceman is made under the new Countryman. MF had an article not to long ago about the PM not being killed off.
Hopefully the next gen Paceman hits the mark better than the first gen did. I really wanted to like mine, but after I got it I was constantly asking myself why I did. Looking at it, I never did quite figure out what it was trying to be. I think now that the Countryman is better looking -- and I'm one who's always preferred 2 doors over 4. And performance-wise, it was pretty disappointing for a MINI. That car desperately needs the added punch of the 2.0L turbo -- hopefully it gets to realize that potential. It's too bad, because in my mind it was a great idea on paper that just didn't translate in practice as well as it could/should have. Unfortunately it will go down as one of my more regrettable purchases.
Was thinking about buying a Paceman S, but after reading lots of stuff we decided to wait. We cancelled the 2013 Paceman S buy we were doing. Keeping my '06 Cooper S a little longer after all.
Sad, but my baby was a gift from my husband. Hard to part with her.

As others have noted, they are still sitting on some dealership lots, waiting to be sold. Various years and configurations out there.
Yeah I tried to get rid of my Paceman, the 2 dealers I went to told me they didn't want it. They had newer ones with lower miles sitting on their lots that they were already having trouble selling. Had to sell mine to CarMax.

Yeah it actually wasn't bad. It was a lease, and it ended up saving me money in the long run to sell it to them rather than finishing out the lease. They offered me over 2k more than both dealers I had it appraised at.

There are not plans for a new Paceman. Just the Countryman
I don't get it; you can still build one on the website and I read that they were moving the final year of production from Magna-Steyr in Graz, Austria to Oxford, UK.
"BMW's version of the MINI is an unusual vehicle, and it's built in unusual places. Currently, many MINIs are built in the Oxford, England plant that's most closely tied to the brand's heritage. But the Countryman and Paceman are made under contract by Magna Steyr in in Graz, Austria. The latter arrangement will end in 2016, moving some production to the brand's Oxford plant and some to a new partnership with VDL NedCar in the Netherlands.
Bringing some of the Paceman and Countryman production to Oxford will mark renewed output for the world's third-oldest car plant. With over 100 years of cars rolling through its doors, the Oxford plant was once known as the British Motor Corporation's Cowley plant. It was previously the production site of Morris Motors, Austin, Austin Healey, MG, Riley, Vanden Plas, Wolseley, Triumph, and even Honda, as well as the original Mini brand."
BTW, I love my 2015 Mini Paceman Cooper S All4. I have a 2013 BMW M3 Competition Package car with the 7 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission and a Honda S2000, but my Paceman is my daily driver.

Did you notice that the article you linked is dated January 2014?
The current generation Countryman is ending and will close out production this year at Magna-Steyr. It is the new, next generation Countryman that will begin production elsewhere. It makes no sense to shift current production for only a few months.
I suspect that they left the Paceman on the website because there are still unsold vehicles on dealer lots. They should really remove the configurator if it's no longer possible to place a new order, but MINI USA has a long history of not keeping the website up to date.
