2C57, 2C58, and 2C91
Son's Countryman is sluggish under load. CEL finally came on last week and a Non-Mini shop pulled these codes: 2C57, 2C58, and 2C91 Their solution is to replace the turbocharger assembly to the tune of $3300. Would like to pulse the readers for ideas on less drastic fixes that can be tried before resorting to a complete R/R. TIA
Check those codes here: https://bmwfault.codes/
With those codes, I would first check the diverter valve. Pull it out, and check the condition of the internal diaphragm. They can get a crack or tear, and then, no boost and some codes.
If the diverter valve is in 100% excellent condition, then pull the upper O2 sensor, and get a scope on the wastegate flapper. With age, the wastegate can wear in the turbine housing and not seal well. If the wastegate has too much play and isn't getting a good seal, then it time for a new turbo.

Thanks for the insight. Looks like we'll need to find a Mini specific shop here in Vegas as those checks are probably above our skill level (even with YouTube's help, lol) It does give us good questions to ask tho, so I appreciate it.
I'm happy to see this forum is still alive and active. Got tons of excellent help and advice back when my 2004 was new. I still have it, which is good since my son is borrowing it while we sort his Countryman's issues. Shout out to the forum gurus.
Thanks again !
