Issues while in sport mode
Hey guys,
I'm not gonna lie, I rushed into this decision of buying a MINI Cooper. It's my first car after driving my wife's invincible Toyota Corolla for years, and I thought I got a pretty good deal on a 2012 Countryman S with 70K miles on it and a clean CARFAX for $9K. Dealer replaced water pump and gave me new runflats on the front, and for two months I was in love. Then the problems started. One day the alternator flat out failed and I was stranded on the road, and I took it to the closest shop (my neighbor's, who does good work but is pricey), and got charged 1200 to replace the alternator. LUCKILY, I bought an aftermarket warranty at signing, which originally felt like a bad decision, and didn't pay anything. But after I picked the car up and drove it around, the engine felt underpowered, the car was jerking, and I got the famed Reduced Engine Power warning. I took it back to the mechanic, who ended up doing some weird flush to the turbo (which the nearest MINI dealer supposedly advised him to do) and changed my spark plugs, for a painful $350. I'll take it. The check ngine lights are gone, but the car still feels off. I'm obviously not a car guy but it definitely doesn't feel the way it did. The car jerks slightly when decelerating, and it's dragging through first and second gear. THEN, sport mode feels horrible, the car jerks, revs when I'm slowing down, and doesn't shift naturally at all, but no engine lights after a couple of days. Am I SOL with this car? Or am I just dumb and doing something wrong? Please talk me down from regretting this decision because I really love the car.
