Tinted headlights and Tails HELP

Hello everyone! Just bought the '12 Countryman and wanted some help/advice. The PO tinted the headlights and taillights. I am not fond of the headlights being this dark and it does affect night time driving, of which, I do a lot of. I am not sure if it is an overlay or tint. I am going to attach pics as best as I can and if anyone can tell me with a naked eye what he used and how to remove it - I would appreciate it. Thanks

Wow, that is extremely dark, I wonder if it's actually legal.... the headlights on my '06 R52 JCW are tinted also, but not as extreme as yours

Yes, ok for car show and not driven but not good for light output,. I bet that is some run of the mill dark lay over tint . I would get a heat gun and try to test it in a corner. Pop the hood and see what the headlight on the edge looks like. If it does not come off or damaged underneath (looks like normal halogen headlights) I would get aftermarket new ones.

If that is a film type application, like Laminex, just have to grab a heat gun and start peeling. If its a painted on coating... might have to replace the housings.
