Fluid (coolant?) leak

So my R60 has been leaking coolant for at least a week or so that I've been aware of and I've been refilling as needed. Earlier today, I was able to get a good picture of where the leak seems to be coming from but I'm not familiar with the underside of the car. Is this a big issue or relatively easy fix?

Leaks are always potentially bad. Can't tell from the pics where it is coming from. But having to frequently add coolant isn't good. You could be driving when the leak becomes a flood and car overheats and causes major damage. Have it looked at soon. Preferably by an honest independent mechanic who works on MINIs.

How many miles on the car? Was it recently serviced for anything, like an oil change perhaps?

Minnie's advice is spot on, as always. Can't be sure of the cause but the water pump is on the passenger side and is a common source of leaks.

+1 also there’s a recall for the water pump so you could get it fixed for free by Mini.

The leak seems to be coming from the either the thermostat or the water pipe closer to the thermostat....I had two cases were the thermostat housing cracked. the job for that is relatively straight forward. the pipe is harder since it runs under the intake manifold.

is there a complete list on recalls and warranty extensions somewhere for reference? My 2011 Countryman starting leaking yesterday and with the closest Mini dealer 2.5 hours away would be helpful to have a list. Basketball sz leak drivers side, greenish clear oily fluid no smell.

I’m not sure I think I saw something once on a motoring alliance post. Others here might know better. I found out about the water pump recall from a mechanic I took the car for a check up. I then called mini and they confirmed. A lot of these recalls/warranty exceptions are only valid if the part is faulty so they won’t mention it unless needed or probably if you ask them. In theory if you call them and ask them for the list of recalls they should be legally obligated to let you know. Try calling them and see what they’re response is.
